That would be the former Roosters coach Ricky Stuart.

Geez, John is getting a bit slow. I would have thought he'd honed in on that one.

I'm not sharing the JT love. Yes our NYC team can play well, but I'm yet to see an 80 minute performance from them. And if you're looking for Smith disciples, remember who JT starting his coaching career under from memory. And sometimes the apple don't fall far from the tree.

Ma-am, after my Benny Elias crack got removed, I'm gun shy with prurient comments.

I think Smith to Elliot is the same as, Bennet to Griffin or Bellamy to Macguire..... the pupils take after the teachers ?

I think at least with JT, there would be a few more obvious changes made. It would be silly to go through the heartache of replacing a coach mid term, just to replace him with someone who would maintain the status quo.

          Anyway just my observation !
Hey Hawk, didn't JT assist Smitty at Parra, I know he coached the U20's there, so who did he do his apprenticeship with if it wasn't Smitty? I remember stumbling onto that show that the Vermin put out, I think it was called South Side Story or something like that, the one where Rusty told them he loved them etc., anyway it showed JT doing a sort of presentation to them & he certainly came across all 9th grade school teacher to me, isn't that the style that Smitty gets criticised for??

I don't like JT as a replacement either. I would put Dean Pay or Trent Robinson ahead of him.

i think jt is one of a few ex nrl players of late who have got a formular on how to coach. jt is one and so too is ivan. unlike kearny and furner who are lead around by the office and suits suffering headuparseitus

I must have missed that Benny Elias comment. Good old BDB - I'm now using capitals only in case of offending! Those old enough and who heard the rumours at the time will get the gist.

And back on topic, as far as I know JT served his coaching apprenticeship under Smith at Parra. So if we are after 'change' I'm not convinced he's the man to produce it.

The only master's apprentice (do what you wanna do...be what you wanna be) I want here is Daniel Anderson.

From memory I think JT under Smith at Parra was similar to what they have at the Roosters i.e Taylor coaching a lower grade. But I do recall that when he took over the first grade from Smith mid stream, Parra improved greatly. Could he do the same for us ? ....maybe, maybe not.
Up till now I havent been a disciple of sacking the coach mid term (though I am slowly starting to come around, not quite there yet but nearly)

But the topic of the thread was about Taylor, and I commented on someone's suggesting Elliot would be better.

As for JT doing a presentation and coming across school teacherish, don't think we could make that assessment based on a snippet from Rusty's touchy feely vermin movie. Actually I think his problems at Souffs stemmed from him trying to be one of the boys, and going out drinking with them and ended up pesting Falongo who smashed him one.

But I will say the Taylor coached Toyota cup team at the moment look more like a footy team than our firsts

I would like to see Taylor given a shot.2 year contract, give him absolute control over team selections an active role in recruitment, and a performance based incentive package could be a good result for the club.He has impressed me this year and to be honest i didnt think much of him a few years ago.
