I saw our warm up against the Bulldogs.

It was a far cry of the last time I saw us warm up before we played Canberra on a Friday night in 2003.

No but minor issue as you see it says a lot about the unity in a team. If the Broncos are asked to act as a team then every facet of the game will be as a team. We have an under achieving team and any small sign says a lot.

Actually, I remember reading some articles a few years ago where studies showed that warming up does nothing (or very little) to prevent injury. Rather, a warm up (from playing & coaching) creates focus and gets you used to using muscles & hand-eye coordination.

However, I agree to that there is much that is amiss. Bring back Cherry Mescia from Parra. We are STILL not fit enough and when the going gets tough after 30 mins, we don't.

They sure are mighty Stevo. I used to live 200 metres away from the oval when I was in Sydney.

To me it illustrated everything negative about our team.
The broncos ran out as one unit. They new exactly what to do when they got out there.
Their warm up routine was STRUCTURED, fine tuned and organised.
There was no chit chat or laughing , they were switched on.

The roosters ran out backs first, FPN for some reason ran out with them.
Each player did their own thing , stretching , chipping to themselves, having a chat
The forwards then joined the team and again the players were left to fend for themselves till about 5 minutes before they went back to the sheds.
When the team did a bit of 3 on 2 passing skills..the number of dropped balls was embarrassing.

                  Our coaching staff are useless.

From what i saw, the way we play is directly related to the way we train (which i havnt checked out to be honest) and related to the way we warmed up yesterday NO STRUCTURE...NO INTENSITY..VERY UNPROFESSIONAL

Unfortunately for us supporters it reflects in the only thing we are consistent in

                  LOSING
I think Gus mentioned this in the call. Not about the Roosters but he said the Broncos were very fired up. Maybe it was Joey.

                      Hi Guys
Thanks for taking an interest in my thread.

Im a physio by trade, and as far as im concerned the pre game regime sets a positive mind set , enabling the sportsman to focus and switch on to the single task at hand.

A structured pre game warm up doesnt necessarily lead to a good team performance, but it does give a sense of team bonding and can instill a DISCIPLINE which i think would benefit our young team

I think you can tell a lot by watching how a team warms up ie whether they are switched on or not.

john corey, you lived on oild bush rd?
im a coach/manager/medico there now! john youd know half our team, a few coppewrs in the side, kogarah, kings cross and engadine stations? plus a few firies, genuinew fair dinkum guys who tackle hard, play hard and enjoy the mateship of a non professional team! its a pleasure to work with them! iff nothing else ive taught them how to scrum hard and win a few tight5 heads, theyve taught me how t5o drink heaps of bourbon onj bus trips!
I actually played half a 3rd grade game this season, when i picked up a tight head i didnt have the heart to tell the opposition hooker hede been bested by a 60 year old! he wouyld have punched my lights out? i still play golden oldies as hard as i can, but its much harder in 3rd grade!

I disagree with that comments bout w/up it's not really win games. Yes, warm up can lead into a team performance, unless you're talking about a social team here. This is my 6th years coaching rep teams, and good w/up lead us into a good start, get the team mindset on the job and has to be more dynamic to get all the muscle ready plus the blood throw, our team will go outside at least 45mins b4 kick-off, 1st 10mins it's a individual w/up (player own time to do his own w/up and get his mindset right), the next 20-25mins, it's our team w/up include stretch/drills/body language, then the last bit, we will just go through our plan at least 2-3mins and straight inside to put on our proud colour, from then on I'm out of the door and leave just the captain and his troops, I make sure I don't over coach or take away the players ownership. I done my job during the training and now it's theirs...so preparation preparation preparation is the word.

Well there's a fresh contribution from you to debate here at The Chookpen. Why didn't you say something about this in earlier posts?
