  • Its only a game!!!!!!

Well, that's what I keep telling myself.

Seriously, why the f#%k does a stupid game of footy make me so annoyed.

I need to wheen myself and learn how to be a band wagon fan...get on for the good times and drop of unaffected in the bad.

Sports is like a drug...picks you up sometimes and you feel euphoric but the come down is crap!!! But we are addicts!!!

      Mate, I hear ya!!

I started following the chooks in 1973 when I was 5 years old.

In most facets of my life I have matured to some degree since then - but not when it comes to the Roosters. I am still that 5 year old kid, unable to sit still leading up to and during the game, dancing for my life when we win and kicking rocks and scowling when we lose.

When we win I get up and run around happy and it gives me a high for the next 2 or 3 days but when we lose.. I refuse to talk calmly to anyone and I just wanna break things.. Can't stand it..

Try watching the game with disinterested people when you lose.. "time to support another team maybe?" blah blah. At least if I was with other Roosters fans we could console ourselves lol.

Parenthood has calmed me a bit.

Two years ago losses like this would have had me miserable and hard to talk to for two days.

Still hurts, but there are more important things.

The worst thing about it is that this can easily be avoided. If we were disciplined and had a good game plan we would havethis innthe bag. Souths learnt, Sharks learnt, Cowboys learnt but for us its theres always next week.

My family don't get it either. Another reason for me to move back to Sydney in December. They are what I call 'dabblers'..they watch a bit of NRL, horse racing, AFL, tennis etc. I'm totally 100% committed to Easts and I don't cheat on them by channel changing to other codes when we are losing...

My sister has just become a grandmother again and she probably didn't even notice her Broncos won yesterday...

ive felt the same way for much of my life, perhaps its me returning to my paddo rootes? as a young boy rushing into the sports ground at half time cause it was free then! i dont expect it will ever leave me though?

I hope it never leaves me either Stephen. I'm renewing my Easts Leagues membership and going for the full 5 years this time. It's like marriage. I'm in for the long haul!

All the tough losses only make the victorys that much sweeter.
The feeling i had watching us win the title in 2002 will come again, when i don't know, but it will happen, and all those tough losses will be gone again in that moment,go EASTS...
