Certainly agree with this. Think of the halfback we could buy with that.

When I read this over my early morning cuppa it's exactly what came to mind.

Good chance of leaving the club if Smith gets any kind of contract extension, unlikely to go to the Tigpies though due to cap pressure. Saints or Dogs would be the front runners.

They can have him. Morts/Maloney is the halves I'd have next year.

Won't happen though, we'll be stuck with one of the two most uncreative halves in the game.

And if you think that's what those two are on, then you're dreaming! By 2014 Jnr Jnr will very much be worth over $600k, sad but true, big lack of depth in the halves in the NRL & clubs will pay overs, why else would Sandow be on a king's ransom at Parra?

Cowboys are about to table an offer in excess of $1mill for JT`s next deal.
Half backs will be the big winners with any cap rise from the coming TV deal and subsequent cap rise...

Maybe they pay on the weight of a player?

whether you love him or hate him, the saddest thing if pearce leaves would be the fact that we gave him his debut at 17 and have given him exclusive rights to the 7 since. We have ridden his ups and downs as a club and done our utmost to get the best out him. For him to leave and go elsewhere even if he never fails to reach the dizzying heights that are expected of him, would be a kick in the face to the club for all the effort they put in to him. Its hard to name another player in the comp who was brought through from 17 and given exclusive rights to a position to develop.

That said, I dont think he will go anywhere. Cap space couldnt be further from an issue and I genuinely believe that considering JWH and co have signed on, he will want to stay as well. I dont think smith will as much of a swaying factor as we seem to think. imo he was only ever going to serve a 4 odd year term with us irrespective of success of failure. The purpose of him coming in was to turn the club culture and roster around and try and build something sustainable about the place (much like POS). That my friends, he has well and truly achieved

On that scale Pearce is worth about $650k.

He's the incumbent NSW half... I'd be interested to know what he's on.

IMO The salaries of players/cap details for each club should be public. That way if Pearce goes off saying "I'm worth $650k" we could come back and say "well JT is on 400k and Cronk's on 450k... you're dreaming mate!"

Guess maybe they are public within circles?
JT would be on about 650-700k
apparently Kieran Foran also just resigned for a massive 600~ as ewll

I think i've previously read that Pearce is currently on about 400-450~... although this is obviously all speculation and we will never know how much they are on.

Sandow's signing obviously made him overvalued, his next contract will probably be lower now that the whole competition has finally come to terms with just how laughably average he is

I remember reading $450k for Jnr Jnr somewhere when we re-signed him.
Do we have any players on 3rd party deals?
