The exit of Terrell May from the Roosters is the first public act from new director of football Mitch Aubusson. He didn’t act without coach Trent Robinson, but he was the driving force.

Rooster legends Jake Friend and Boyd Cordner have also been working on getting the culture of the club back on track. May did nothing wrong, but his attitude was not what the club wants.

And they didn’t like the impact that was having on others, such as Spencer Leniu and Siua Wong. It’s a significant U-turn for a club that has had its recruitment questioned since the signing of Matt Lodge.
Thanks for sharing and providing some context to the situation.

This makes more sense.. but can't we mould these players attitudes? Maybe that was the hope when we resigned him but we've had no success. The problem starts when it trickles into other players attitudes.

Really unfortunate still because you can't fault his on field performances and he is in a position we lack depth.

IMO members should get behind him. Email the club and let them know this is a weird one as we had the option not to sign him and guys like Billy Smith keep selling the message that if you're committed, there's always a spot for you.

May's one of our most explosive forwards and he chose us over $$$ while saying he'd love to be a Rooster for life. Due to no fault of his own, his brother's now facing possible prison time, which would mess with his head. However he's gotten on with the job and is off playing for Samoa.

Why sign him for 2 years as part of a bidding war and then tell him to get farked? IMO the club should treat guys like him and Gus better. If you need some big money then make some big calls on guys like Cheese for under-performing. May's had no disciplinary issues and has earned his spot in the team. There's no replacements on the market and we need his services... quit the BS!

    This rubbish needs to stop.
Terrell didn't seek a release and he is devastated that the club doesn't want him.
He was shocked when Robbo rang him. He is allowed to leave, doesn't mean he is going to leave.

It's another dopey decision by the club who again didn't read the room.
First we had the decision to let Angus go and sign Fafita.
Now this, Yes, Terrell is different and I can understand how old people wouldn't like him, but the players love him.

Reading his story about how much it means to him that his family are well off and the November deadline, I believe he has believed he’s worth much more if tested on the market and requested a contract renegotiation which the roosters refused thus prompting him to ask to be released from his contract to look elsewhere to which the club agreed as if to say if money is his main motivation then he’s not suited to the roosters culture. So he will likely get much, much more on the open market now he’s more fully aware of his true value.

I don’t think the club wants any player who’s not fully committed and he has indicated just that so despite losing a physically good player, his mindset is not compatible with our culture. So he will get much more at some other club. And we will lose a player who’s not fully committed. Fair deal.

Maybe he talked out of school about Nick or Robbo.
He's a different cat then most players in the sense that footy is a job for him a bit like Nick Kyrgios & his tennis.
I dont think he really cares who & where he plays & I think he maybe a little loose with his tongue but so is Brandon Smith.
That video that surfaced on social media where he is sniffling & rubbing his nose was a bit suss. I know he was tested & came back supposedly negative but if he was tested say 2 days after then it would have cleared from his system.
At the end of the day I think all 3 May brothers are born & bred Mount Druitt boys & I think they all have a bit of mug in them. Im certainly glad the Chooks didn't get all 3 of them at our club.

considering who's available in the market, it's an odd decision to let him go. I hope the club has thought this through

Off-field issue? No...denied by player himself ,other teammates and even the media...if something serious happened then why not just terminate his contract...rather than the fluff that he is free to leave...or approached to leave?

Doesn't fit with our culture? Why? He is not injury prone like many teammates...or perhaps he doesn't like to advertise woke cars like BYD? Or doesn't like the culture of choking during the finals? Seemed to fit in with our culture for the first two & a half yrs for the club to re-sign him...so how did our culture change in the last 6 months? He gets on with teammates and maybe even coach Guru as he was our only player to play every game this season. Total B.S reason IMO.

Clearing salary cap space for someone else? Really!!!...3 or 4 million in cap space already...we need to fill cap space not make more. Are we making room for Tom Brady? If it's extra cap space then why not terminate that useless cripple wannabe hooker Brandon Smith...that's $850,000 instead of $450,000.

Too many established props already? Other than Collins and back fence 15 min Spence...who else? If anything we need to add a prop not release one..

The only logical conclusion left is this whole story is it's orange tan Illuminati man "fake news"...lot's of that going around atm...$$$$$ for the fake news. Sure he will be linked to other clubs for click bait news...then maybe he magically stays on here..
You make an interesting point. If it is purely a salary cap move, Brandon Smith makes more sense. He is on a much bigger wicket, and imo is easier to replace. He may be more difficult to offload given his higher salary and injury though.

Looks like Politis has gone full Yankee on us by celebrating halloween and giving us Rooster horror stories like releasing T May on halloween...so that we can start the Butcher brothers as rooster props..scarier than any hollow pumpkins.

This horror story / myth doesn't make sense on any level. Bizarre really...
