The argument that they have some fringe NRL players in their squad doesnt hold up given the Riff have some players in their squad that were absolutely bang average at other clubs.

With all this said, I wouldn't sign Bevan French. He is not the player we need. Id look at someone like Jack Welsby first.
Riff first trial for the year while ESL are two rounds into their comp
over their with their crowd in shit conditions and a ref favouring the home side helped
but yes riff should clean them up
but they Peak when it matters - the Finals and GF

Never mind him….Bring back the speedy red-headed sharp-shooter, Adam Keighran! He can cover centre, 5/8 and hooker (apparently).

St Helens beat them in Penriff in 30+ degree Temp against full strength side.

If ESL was NSW Cup standard, I'd expect the Riff to be able to beat any reserve grade side under any circumstance in any conditions with little to no preparation. Yet they didn't beat either English side when they had the chance.

Clearly the NRL is a better comp overall but to dismiss the ESL is close minded. Its one of the few organic features of our great game to have an overseas league yet the NRL continue to focus on manufacturing new features like Vegas, etc.

I agree whole heartedly. I think French is ready for the NRL. Why not give him a shot at least?

There haven't been many English backs who have done any good here since the 1970's. Look at our recent players, Joe Burgess, Ryan Hall, Oliver Gildart and Lewis Moody. Sam Tomkins was a star over there. Dom Young is a current test player and has a lot of improving to do. Most of the top halves over there are Aussies who were fringe first graders here. I'd be surprised if Souths get much out of Lewis Dodds next year unless Wayne can work a miracle. Some English back rowers could go OK here but we've already had their best prop Luke Thompson at the Bulldogs and he didn't fire at all.
Roosters are the only Australian club to take the WCC seriously, that's why we always win it. Other clubs treat it like a trial

                Pass.

Reserve grade player at best here in Aus.
