What's the obsession with a long kicking game? Mitchell Pearce had one of the longest kicking games of all time and everybody hated him and spent almost 10 years wanting the club to get rid of him. There's a lot more to a halfback than how far they can kick the ball. When the forward pack gets belted and we're kicking off our 40 with the opposition backs set in position it doesn't matter how far you can kick it anyway.

Should have the doubters feeling a bit more positive.

He worked many tries with Nanai running off his hip. Let's hope he does similar with Wong and Rads.

You'll have to backdate it given I said it 2 months ago haha. Point still stands though. There are far greater issues with the way we play but I do acknowledge that we don't have anyone to kick us out of trouble, which is always a luxury and improves a team.

I don't think Mr. Townsend will improve the long kicking deficiency anyway.

I didnt say we dont have depth, every club has depth because every club has 30 players, its the quality of depth Im a bit concerned about.
Ive basically told myself that next year & probably 2026 are rebuilding years & that by 2027 guys like Elliott, Toia, Sansom Smith, Tait & King will be bona fide first graders with hopefully 1 or 2 of them becoming superstars.

not wanting to put pressure on him but his input is crucial - exceed expectations and we're a chance to make the 8 and with walker and cheese coming back, who knows; under-perform and we'll struggle unless one of the young guns steps up. with both our starting halves from this year gone/injured we could struggle

Haven't seen so much of him this year but he should be able to do all necessary halfback skills pretty well. He doesn't seem to get up for every game anymore or compete for 80 minutes. Could go well if our forwards can dominate opposition, otherwise it might be grim.

He'd better be a darn sight better. You better, you better you bet.

I don’t know what happens if we get injuries which we will.

On the flip side Toia, Quentin Smith or Mark N could be sensational.

That’s why it’s important. If we fail to do any of that a long kicking game relives us of pressure and keeps us in the fight for field territory.

It’s a sad state of affairs when you consider Chad Townsend will be our starting half next year..
