Referees in revolt against Harrigan and Raper

The only good thing I can think of that the ref's have brought in under Harrigan, is the fact now that if a player plays on after the "held" call (which may have been lineball or just not heard by the player), the ref's tell them to go back and play it, rather than issuing a mandatory penalty ....... other than that, I can't think of too many improvements ?

Its the 'grey area' or 'fine line' decisions that are the issue and it would be interesting to know what percentage of these decisions are coming back as a correct call. I would be confident it would be well below his 97% pass mark and closer to 50-60% which isn't good enough in my opinion.
The other issue is 2 referees. Bill refuses to admit that it hasn't been a success when its pretty obvious that the major issue players/coaches/fans etc have with referees is consistency. You just can't possibly get consistency in calls when you have two different people deciding what is and isn't a penalty etc. Some of our rules are so subjective that it is just not humanly possible. Each referee has a different standard for deciding how long is too long when holding down in a tackle for example and this is what frustrates fans and players alike.
As a Roosters fan, I can see that probably about 90% of the penalties we incur are warranted. But what annoys me is that when the opposition infringe in the same manner, in a lot of cases it is not ruled as a penalty in our favour. Get rid of the two referees and I think a
lot of the consistency issues are taken out of the game.
yeh alot of good points. better the devil ya know in this case. archer is a scmuck, lucky to count to 20 with thinking about it.
where are all the old refs. mccallum for eg. i know he was the superleague ref boss for a awhile, be he would be good and he was a great ref.
or another option is to employ a few serious and fair type of retrired footy players. not involved with any club directly. maybe cayless, belcher, or that sort of player.
or option 2 is to have each club to have their own reresentitive on reffering to voice the refs errors to them and what the refs can do to improve their quality of reffing. footballers are proffesionals and the refs are amatuers. maybe the refs should train with teams1911 1912 1913 1923 1935 1936 1937 1940 1945 1974 1975 2002 2013 2018 2019 2020

Love Freddy! Favourite rooster of all time. I said in another thread a week ago, Harrigan's biggest problem is trying to cover his own ar@e. Instead of just admitting fault then trying to find ways to fix the issues/problems/faults, he keeps coming up with his own justification simply to cover his ar@e. Give yourself an uppercut Bill.

I have played golf with Freddy and had some nice dinners with him and the missus and I can tell you the guy is far far far from dumb....
