As if he needed any more reassurance that his greatest career moment was leaving that club.

Yeah that's with our already lax team resting 4 players and Robbo likely giving the order to go limp as the job's done.

We got the win and none of our top-13 were injured or in serious trouble. This is against a rampaging Souffs that has the refs on their side.

Job done. We did no more or less than what was necessary...

      • Congrats to the boys, job done and mainly no obvious bad injuries.

Credit to our two wingers, both terrific. What a debut from Mark.

Much more settled 2nd half until we got sloppy in defence. Keary the conductor as usual, and Teddy continued his great form.

Looking at Connor and Sandon I don't feel we lose much with Sam and Cheese out. Those writing us off are way too premature.

It's about freshening up this week and welcoming back some troops for first semi. We are in a pretty decent spot right now.

And a mention for Sitili, really sorry he's going, getting better every week.

        • Takeaways:

Mark looks really good, defensively was my biggest issue but looked very solid.

Wong had one of his best games in RWB, maybe he is more a middle than an edge

Sandon didn’t look out of place, played well

Teddy didn’t fall into the trap of overplaying his hand and was fantastic

DLS Vaa looks special. As he gets older could be one of the premier props in the league, especially if he improves his fitness. Steep likewise looks really good

if we can play the way we did from about minute 30-70 we can really give Storm and Penrith a run

          • Happy with Sandon. Watson and Teddy caused problems all day. Mark was very good and he should be a great asset. Vaa looked awesome. Bottom line is that errors and bad defense are why we cannot go any further.

            • Can't agree mate. Our defence has been woeful for the last 6 weeks. It's not gonna magically improve.

That’s the problem Izzy that mentality this team has of oh we have done enough we’re home, it wont work the next of couple of weeks, after last weeks injury nightmare I’m still deflated, we have a punchers chance that’s about as good as it gets I hope I’m proven wrong.

                  • The refereeing of us was a joke, as it often is.
If Gus stopped fighting in tackles he wouldn't lose the ball like he does.
If we didn't try to play razzle dazzle footy at the start of games we wouldn't make a truckload of mistakes then.

Lose the ball like Leniu did, against top teams, you might as well stay home and forfeit the matches.

                    • happy with that. while the game was competitive our defence was good. sandon killed it. wong really stepped up. teddy still the king. su was put to the test as a goal kicker and had only one bad kick.

                      • I am sure that it will be a better performance first week of finals - Penrith will be mighty tough so the Roosters need to go with them for the 80 and be better in the fundamentals.

Not sure if Cleary will play although they don't lose a lot with Luai taking the game on as the play maker.

Be only a handful of Chook supporters attending as the majority will be Panthers like 2020.

They both can play centre or wing.
                            All good for next season.
                            Next week?
I'll leave that up to Trent.

                            • I'm not too displeased with the performance. Bookended the game with a pretty poor 10-minutes, but there was a lot to like with a line-up that was entirely foreign. Siua Wong in particular looked so good to me. Just looks like an incredible athlete and wonderfully well-balanced in how he moves.

I also think Tedesco will be in line to win fullback of the year. He has been sensational. Va'a looked fantastic, Marky's debut went as well as it possibly could have, Pauga was actually very strong, Crichton back in SoO form, Connor played lights-out footy, Sandon played with plenty of poise. Plenty to like, and they'll obviously have a bit more resolve next week, after a few have had a needed rest.

I don't want to be premature, but I think quite a few of our young guns have decent NRL careers in front of them. I hope we make good decisions in terms of recruitement, because it'll be tough/impossible to keep them all.

Also, thought the referreing was really poor. Not just anti-Roosters or anything. Just one of those games where a lot that should have been penalised was missed, but was nitpicky with everything else. Very little flow to the game at all.

We rarely agree Red, but you are correct here.
