  • Official Match Day Thread: Roosters v Storm

    Parramatta. Bulldogs. Tigers. Siants.

Some much hype about us lately. Some favouring us to win the comp. We all love to hear it but let’s get serious for a minute. We have played rubbish sides for the last month. Apart from Bulldogs, the others have all been in contention or are still in contention for the spoon this year. I know, you can only play what’s in front of you and we’ve given them all a decent beating, but let’s be realistic, there are only two other decent teams in this competition and we are yet to beat either.

    Melbourne.

They’re an excellent footy team. Very robotic and well coached. They don’t give you much. Their no-name players are very solid and get the job done.

Tonight is our chance. Our change to really exert some authority in this competition. Thrashings verses Saints and Tigers don’t win you much credibility but wins away verses Melbourne do. Tonight we have a great opportunity to show our true capabilities. Are we a genuine title contender? Tonight will give us a decent indication.

It’s a miserably cold and windy day here in Melbourne and rain is predicted. I went to the AFL last night and the “feels like” temp was 2 degrees. Going to be cold tonight too. If anyone is here and wants to meet up let me know. Will be at Beer DeLuxe Fed Square with plenty of Roosters supporters prior to kick-off.

    Kick off 735pm.

    GO ROOSTERS!

This is the game we need to get us primed for the run home. I’m really looking forward to this one.

I think we will get em with 15 to go.

Huge game. Our chance to not only make a statement, but cement our own belief that we can beat the top few teams in their own backyard. Win this and there’s no stopping us.

      Bring it on.

      Easts to Win!!

          Great post and So true
you can only play what’s in front of you but a win against a good side away which we have done 1 from the last 10 will be massive to cement a top 2 spot and show we can match and beat riff and storm
it’s a 3 horse race atm this year but we need to show we are not just flat track bullies again the easy sides
our forward will lay the platform and backs take their chances / I think this game will come down to our spine and being able to control the game and continually put the storm under pressure
big games from cheese, Keary and walker will go along way here

This is a big one in terms of our season and what kind of team we really have. Can't wait. Go Easts.

As Thirteen said, tonight will give us a true indication of where we are at. Our record against Storm and Penrith has been poor for a long time and we need to prove we are able to beat them. GO EASTS

Another good write-up Thirteen. And kudos for making the trek to bleak city, the weather looks terrible today. A little warmer in Sydney but still a dose of winter before things warm up later next week.

The game...should be a ripper. Could be a preview of the big dance. $1.70 Easts $2.15 Storm on Sportsbet. I'd have an evens split I think.

Disagree slightly about the sides we are beating. The "normal" Easts duffs one or two of those should win games. We've hIt a zone where we are being more focussed and ruthless in them. Its a good sign, and throw in the subjective reffing favouring our rivals we still are doing it. Having said that, we could play great tonight and still lose. Storm are a top side.

Would have loved JWH and Manu and Munster all out there. Bellamy will have spotted a weaker spot or two, as I'm sure Robbo has for them. Kicking games and chase very important, we need to be on song with our shorter game. Expect some high swirling bombs from Hughes.

Great to have Teddy fresh and fit at this time of year. Go get em son.

Miserably cold and windy, probably raining, playing a well coached robotic team at their home ground, at night...no JWH.
                      Charming.
Best of luck and wellness to us.
Hope we win, ...it's a big ask.
If we don't win I'll just be writing it off to ... "Origin 3 days ago, players missing/suspended, ridiculous weather," ...hope I don't have to include 'seemingly biased refereeing'.

Nelson and Welch have pulled out for them so they have a much weakened bench.

No NAS, Welch, Munster, R.Smith and Coates. Big opportunity for us. I know we are missing a couple of important ones but I don’t make excuses for us. We have a team good enough to win tonight.

Hughes is a top player who always seems to grow an extra leg against us. Let’s hope we pressure him lots tonight. Dominate their forwards and we should limit his opportunities.

It’s bloody cold here. 8 degrees but “feels like” 1. Plus there’s a bit of rain about and very strong winds.

I’m actually more confident in the Chooks playing well in wet weather than I have in a very long time!

I heard Justin Horo compare this game for us like trying to get off the mark in cricket.

Get a cheap single here whilst they are down a few and then the runs (wins against top 4 sides) should start flowing.

Thought it was a good analogy because feels like more of a mental block more than anything else.

                              Should be a good game.
