    ROOSTERS SQUAD v TIGERS

    Round 17 - Sunday 30th June, 6:15pm
    Allianz Stadium, Sydney

The Roosters celebrate multiple milestones this week. Our fearless leader, Teddy, plays his 150th game for the mighty Chooks this week. Since his first season with us as the "Worst recruit in Roosters history", he has been nothing but class. His only fault is occasionally trying TOO hard, and trying to do too much on his own. He has, however, won us many games on his own, so I'm happy to forgive him the occasional over-zealousness. Robbo coaches his 300th NRL game on Sunday, all of them with Easts. He is already the Roosters longest serving coach, but it's a nice milestone never the less. Congrats to him. Last, but by no means least, after his wonderful leadership performance last week, Jazz equals Aubbo's record of 306 games for the Roosters on Sunday. There's not much I can add to what has been said about him during this season of milestones. I'll save some for next week when he breaks the record.

A really good performance last week, despite being down a few troops in the middle. We played good, direct football. Great ball control despite the horrendous conditions, and we kept up the intensity for pretty much the whole 80. The bar has been set, now we have to keep meeting, and exceeding, that standard.

Our Origin reps have been named to back up, but May will start with Collins off the bench. So, injuries not withstanding, with the side we have on the park there is no excuse not to win this game by 30+. We've given the Tigpies some serious hidings in the Robbo era, and I expect to see another one this week. Tupouniua has been named at left center for the suspended Pauga. The rest of the 17 pretty much picks itself of the available players. Special mention to Nat Butcher, who I thought had one of his better games last week, particularly with ball in hand. I'm glad he keeps a spot on the bench. Still without our best 17 ... 115 and counting.

The Tigers may have won 2 in a row, but should be no match for a Roosters team that is building very nicely into the back end of this comp. I'm starting to get excited about how this year will play out. We need two strong performances, then a little rest over the bye week before making a statement against the Storm in Round 20.

The Roosters have won their last seven games against Wests Tigers and 17 of their past 18.

    Roosters by 34.

Bench rotation will be interesting. It really seems like Watson is going to be moving to an 80 minute role permanently. I’d assume Whyte will spend 30 odd mins at lock while Watson relieves Cheese. Obviously Leniu and Collins will be in the prop rotation, but wouldn’t be surprised if Nat gets <10 mins in the game. Rads and Gus are 80 minute 2nd rowers, unless the plan is to not play Gus a full game after Origin

Our odds have taken a bit of a hit. Easts are now paying $1.17 (were $1.13) and Balmain's odds have shortened from $6 to $5.10.

I wonder how many of our players will be binned or marched on Sunday. It's the end of the financial year, but sadly the corrupt match officials won't be able to bank their 'play' money until 1st July.
1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.

I believe Collins and Gus will miss the game and be given a rest Gus will play the 80 on Wednesday and Collins probably plays 50-60 mins, week off makes sense, Leniu and Watson will play reduced mins impact off the bench unless NSW go down a player I see them both backing up.
Sitili at centre is asking for trouble let’s hope Robbo is playing mind games here and young King gets a run Sitili back to the bench.

Look for Nat to take Gus spot and May to play big minutes again I say let him he just doesn’t get tired, all of his work is quality, Wong onto the bench.

Why not give king a run I don’t like stilli at centre he’s a running edge forward not a back if I were benji I’d be telling the tigers to attack stilli as much as possible

I posted it in another thread, but I'll put it here as well in case anyone is interested.

I decided to run the numbers on our record against the Tigers since Trent Robinson joined, and it is pretty astonishing.
We have won 15 of the 16 matches against the Tigers since 2013, and have scored a total of 569 points at an average of 35.5 per game.
The Tigers have scored 172 at an average of 10.7 per game, giving us an average winning margin of 25.

I don't think there would probably be a more dominant record in the entire comp.

Actually since 2010, they've only won one additional game for a strike rate of 2 from 23 games.

Pretty interesting side we have named here - Robinson definitely have decisions to make from game to game, which is a bloody good thing. Our depth is outstanding.
Not sure how the Tigers will go after having two good wins on the trot. I can't see us losing, but maybe they'll make a game of it. When things go perfectly for them, they can play alright.

Agree with Teddy - give Gus and Collins a breather. Start with Whyte somewhere.

                GO ROOSTERS.

                  We should lap them.

Expect fireworks between the Big Dog and Stefano.

DLS Va'a was named at 24 in the email from Roosters today - would love to see him get some game time against an easier team and give Collins a break.

                        Good side
Would have preferred Wong to get a crack at centre over sitili
i woudnt be surprised to see the origin players get less minutes
if all going well to see Nat take over Gus and Whyte for Watson early and jwh and May to play big minutes again
a lot to play for this week need to keep winning and 3 big milestones this week for robbo, jwh and teddy
expect tigers to dig deep early but us to run away but 20 or so

Bateman and Olam named in the reserves for the tigpies. So, I guess that means they are playing.

Any reason in particular for Whyte being dropped to the bench?

injured from last game as I think he didn’t come back on?

Nice write up on teddy, he's our best big signing in my books since Freddy and backed it up with consistently being our best player for 5 years. We need to nail our next couple of weeks with teams out of finals contention before the bye.
We've got a golden opportunity this year as the team with a few elder statesman looking at a last dance scenario and the panthers who have been by far the best team of this generation and as good as ive seen with a couple of question marks and a long term injury to a gun away from coming back to the field.
I haven't posted for awhile but the last time I did I mentioned that the moore park double might be a shot this year....get on board.
We've limped into finals the last few years having to make a sustained run just to get there which in my opinion has led to injuries to the likes of Toups and Joey which have cruelled our chances. Hopefully this year we can get ourselves into a top 4 spot and can rest some guns leading into the finals.
I love what Holbrook has brought to our attack and we are a genuine threat this year with our depth that no other team in the conp can match.
Lets go chooks, can't afford anymore slip ups to opposition we should beat.
