  • Dafuk was the Collins penalty about?

Bloke kicks him in the head and then another gives him a straight arm tackle in the eye while he's on the ground. Ref blows some whistle, calls it dissent and Eels are up by 2. Whatever happened to sticks and stones? (Dunno what he said but presumably he was penalised for telling the ref that the system was a crock of shyte?)

We got the 2 points so I don't wanna whinge too much but IMO that was one of the worst reffing performances ever.

At one point the ref called a farking odd (nothing in it) penalty having just marched the Eels down the field on a 'high tackle' that even the commentators agreed was not high. He then warned us that the last 10 penalties he'd called had been against us. It was hilarious rhat he could take himself seriously after a comment like that.

Next up I noticed that Manu almost sarcastically tackled Moses by bending his arms down to his knees and making sure there was absolutely no chance that anybody could call it high (it was a big hit on the 5th that prevented a kick too).

Ref can give himself an uppercut, as can the Eels players for all their bloody theatrics. However I'm bloody proud of our boys for winning despite all this BS. Shows some GREAT form IMO.

I hope he took a leaf out of Walsh's book.
I would have been sent of ten times tonight.

Collins as usual gave it everything tonight but i love watching him play when he gets the shits and goes into human battering ram mode.

Speaking of getting the shits ..... JWH binning- has anyone ever heard a referee say " its was MODERATE FORCE" before? WTF?

Yes, calling someone a Referee is a particularly nasty insult. I wouldn’t stand for it myself.

Some of the penalties parra got were embarrassing and very poor from the referee imo. How has the officiating gotten so bad? I watched the Storm vs Warriors game and Gerry Sutton had an absolute shocker aswell. Its as if they get a message to even out possession with penalties, because us & NZ dominated the start of both games before the other team came back. Whatever it is, it makes it a hard watch.

Hope the MRC gives Lindsay a 1 week suspension so he can't play for Queensland.

You nailed it. It’s no longer a game; it’s purely an entertainment product these days. Closer matches that are in the balance are a more exciting product to watch, hence the leg ups given to the team behind on the scoreboard without momentum to make it more of a contest. It happens more against us because we have traditionally been a stronger outfit.

The bunker was designed to enable the product director to manage product outcomes by instructing the on field mouthpiece (referee) on what to do. It allegedly started off as a tool to get decisions right on scoring tries, but now it makes all the key decisions. ALL OF THEM!

I reckon the ref was on the cans last night. He fumbled his way through that game and made some very strange decisions.

The feigning from a number of Eels players was a disgrace! It brings the game into disrepute. It truly is a stain on the game.

                      It was embarrassing
lane stayed down so the bunker would review jwh and he got sent
tuilagi stayed down from Manu which hit his shoulder and matto stayed down again when jwh got him
I never new parra were such bad sports and actors but last nights performance by them and the ref keeping them in the game was dreadful and will turn fans away

Agreed. You could see it when they overturned our drop out call late in the game, when parra knocked it on. I feel like we were the better side but they knew we copped some rough calls so the bunker intervened and corrected that one. We typically don't get these overturned in our favour with the bunker, or we would have to burn a challenge to get them.

I think Collins got the shits as the ref called he got tackled in the in goal which he clearly didnt.

Collins probably over reacted, though I wouldn't have blamed him if he planted one right on the ref's smug, mincing lips.
1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.

comes from an old army joke -
officer to men: who called the cook a bastard?
