What's with the Yeo hate? He threw a pearler of a line break assist pass to DCE. Hit him straight on the chest for Coates try. Great origin play.

As for Nicho, it's obvious he isn't up to Origin, the fact he wouldnt front up after the games shows he probably knows it now too. He's defence was terrible and his seven tackle set kick before Queensland's first try (when it was still 13 on 13). I also still haven't forgiven him being a turnstile against the Kiws at the end of last year and gifting them the easiest rugby league try you will ever see.

I agree.. No consistency, you should either have to commit to Australia to play origin OR all eligible players can play regardless of what nation they also are eligible for. To let all the tier 2 nation players play origin and not someone like Rads is actually a joke.

I thought that Radley's commitment to England was a masterstroke. Meant he got to play in a world cup and will be able to avoid all the bullshit that surrounds Origin each year.

TBH I reckon the solution to GI's QLD selection shoulda just been to open the flood gates and be like 'FINE... you can choose whichever state you like'. Let GI choose QLD (something they never prevented) but also let NSW select SBW, JWH, Burgess, Graham, RTS...etc. The results woulda evened out and QLD would eventually got the message.

Instead what NSW did was accept the overly stupid/restrictive rule changes and think that signing Tamou would level things up (noting he's a Kiwi who played for NQ and played for the NZ Maori side... cool flex there, NSW!)

As it is, I would encourage anybody who's got the choice to play for another country to do so. The NSW v QLD rivalry is fake and QLD always wins Origin (like how NZ always wins the rugby). Boo hoo. It only matters when the results are close and the win/loss ratio isn't lopsided. When it's lopsided, one can only get so excited about the prospects of another (predictable) loss. Then you add a scenario where a guy's sent off for a high tackle in the 7th minute (for a game that's supposed to be tougher and harder, being characterised by historic brawls...etc).

Assuming such things ever happened, they happened during what is now a very much bygone era (not dissimilar to the days when NZ v Australia in rugby was viewed as being an epic grudge match - now we just lose 80-0 and nobody watches it).

I'd throw Latrell in at left centre too.

Fair point about the Easts boys, but it makes you think about the sort of dent we should make in this comp.

No to Latrrell, apart from his form this season not earning it....he breaks into a sweat just thinking about effort on effort. Qld would expose him.

NSW were a man down and constantly pinned in their own half for ~65 minutes until the floodgates opened due to sheer exhaustion. IMO the less said about this game, the better as the NRL loves controversy.
What did Spencer and Mam have to do with Hynes?
He wasted no time showing his face everywhere telling the NRL to take a strong stance before Spencer had faced the judiciary.
That's what it has to do with the Roosters.

How many chances does he get?
Last year he played 12 minutes in Origin 1 - out of position in the centres and then was dropped for the rest of the series

He tore us to shreds only a few weeks ago.

Can't think of too many half backs that have starred when their team is down to 12 men for most of the game.

The thing about origin that grates is it only takes a simple formula, something that NSW can’t seem to grasp.
                    • stand offside
                    • leave early in defence
                    • run harder than you ever have
                    • tackle harder than you ever have
                    • work hard for your mate
                    • take your chances
                    • kick long for the corners
                    • work in numbers on kick chase
                    • don’t stop
Most of these are effort related which is governed by the mind and attitude based. That needs to be the mindset, “you can’t come through me”. That is what the coach’s message should be, these players are elite, they don’t need to be taught the game, only motivated.

NSW are often guilty of playing cute. Nicho, Yeo’o and Luai’o dishing balls out without much purpose putting pressure on ball carrier/recipient.

From the teams they keep picking, I’m not sure the coaches have a style they want to play. Let’s see what they turn out for game two.
