What sorta salary is he likely to be on outta interest? For one reason or another I reckon he's unlikely to be on too dollar.

Internet search states that we signed him on a 2 year deal worth $900k

Off topic slightly but what role is this guy expected to play for us in 2025? I don't follow Union at all but I see on Wiki that he's got 11 games for the Wallabies, is he going to walk into the Roosters top 17 next year?

I'd presume he's not switching over to play NSW Cup unless the yawnion culture is THAT toxic right now.

Position? With Manu and Sua'ali'i leaving for $$$ in yawnion (and Toops' eventual retirement within the next few years) I'd say thay Pauga, Billy Smith and Markie will all be fighting for spots.

It's yet to be seen what sorta player Markie is. However if he has a little more wow factor that Pauga, less injuries than Smith and more working years left in him than Toops then he'll own one of those roles.

Curious - any positive signs from Young's brother? I appreciate he's frigging ordinary but have been highly impressed by Young's athleticism.

Pretty sure Rob Toia is well and truly in the mix of Robbo’s centre plans for 2025 if fit …..

Only rugby I ever watch is the RWC and well before he signed with us I thought he looked really good in a really bad team.

I haven’t watched him since though.

They’re paying him a decent amount of money, he’ll be given every chance to prove he belongs in the 17. That’s not to say he’ll be guaranteed if he’s poor. With Tupou and Young our wingers he’ll probably be in contention for the centre position alongside Billy Smith and Toia

RA have publicly said they would welcome him back in 2027 so allowing an early release now may be in their best interest. Given the state of rugby in this country they wouldn’t want to be burning any bridges with players.

                    Want him in 2027 perhaps?

He is one of the Wallabies best but they have the shits and won't pick him for the midyear tests!

Thats a great way to show him they love him and want him back!

                    At lease Suaalii got picked!

Allready in the works by the looks of it

NRL-bound Wallabies outcast primed for stunning late Olympic bid amid early release talks

                      Jared Wright 9 hours ago
Mark Nawaqanitawase of the Waratahs warms up before the Super Rugby Pacific.

Mark Nawaqanitawase could feature for Rugby Australia one more time before making his code switch to the NRL, with the opportunity to represent his country at the Olympics now on the cards.

The flying winger was a standout for the Wallabies during a forgettable Rugby World Cup campaign under Eddie Jones but will now be taking his talents to rugby league, having signed with the Sydney Roosters.

                      NRL or Olympic Games?

With the Waratahs’ season now over after failing to reach the Super Rugby Pacific play-offs, Nawaqanitawase is in high demand again with the possibility of making an early NRL switch and a chance at winning an Olympic gold medal on the cards.

                      Content continues below

According to a report by The Age, the Roosters are in talks with Nawaqanitawase’s camp about the prospect of the code-hopper getting an early release from his contract with Rugby Australia.

This would allow him to get a jump start at the NRL club and potentially play lower-level rugby league to ease his transition into the code.

It’s unlikely that he could fill in for Joseph-Aukuso Sua’ali’i, who is heading in the opposite direction. He is set to be suspended following his red card in the State of Origin clash, with the switch too soon for the 23-year-old.

Rugby Australia’s million-dollar recruit red-carded after horrific State of Origin tackle prompting ‘awful spray’ from opposition coach

But he and Rugby Australia would need to reach a decision soon if he is to make an early switch, with the NRL’s transfer deadline on June 30.

Go to the Olympics young man!

Have a great time in France, savour the local "dishes", drink wine and come to us in August refreshed and train with us for the rest of season.

Matt Bourke on radio this morning said this young man has a long way to go to be able to handle the physicality of the NRL.

If he plays at centre, he would be a good chance as Toia and Smith, who would have probably been our first choice centres next year if they weren't so brittle, are unlikely to be fit.....
