I was under the impression that as soon as it touches the opposition player mid air and you lose it for a split second, it's a knock on.

Looking at it again it depends on the angle you are viewing.

From behind it looks like he may have bobbled into Williams before the balls knocked out. From the front angle it looks like he caught it cleanly and it is then knocked from his grasp, which he recovers cleanly and scores from.

As PTB said I can see why people think it's a no try. I can also see why it was given.

I will also stand by my earlier opinion that this incident is a 50/50 call, The one in our game was just wrong, hence the drama after the event.

That said if we got disallowed that try, the Boggs one, I'd have blown up, if we got given it I'd have praised the Vidiot.

The one last night looked to me like the ball was batted at on purpose and regathered cleanly, similar to the one we got given vs the Tigpies in that semi in 2010, Bwaiff from memory. The purpose in both those incidents were to batt/rake the ball out, not to make a tackle necessarily.

The Dean Young one in the GF is a loose carry, the tackles being made and the ball dislodged and hits the defender before it's regathered. The express purpose isn't to knock the ball out, it's to make a tackle, the ball dislodged as the tackles being made.
