These are the player comparisons for this season so far
Tedesco -
11 Appearances
7 Tries
10 Try assists
7 line breaks
340 receipts
71 Tackle Breaks
52 tackles made
13 tackles missed
1870 total run metres
170 average run metres per game
Edwards -
11 Appearances
7 Tries
6 Try assists
6 line breaks
423 receipts
72 Tackle Breaks
58 tackles made
14 tackles missed
2564 total run metres
233 average run metres per game
Now the stats tell me despite having almost 100 less touches throughout the season so far, Tedesco has more Tries, Try assists and line breaks.
Edwards only clears in run metres, but as you can see he has had much more opportunities to return kicks than teddy which is where Edwards gains most of his metres. Penrith do not have the luxury of Young and Tupou on the wing so Edwards gets a lot of kicking traffic.
Interesting to see that even after the comparison and Tedesco being the incumbent captain that he was dropped.
QLD would NEVER drop their champion captain, this is exactly why NSW do not get origin.
I'm relieved for Teddy.. maybe it's my queensland bias speaking but I felt for him last year copping it from his own state left right and centre. He is the new NSW whipping boy and if he isn't selected he the weight of origin pressure will no longer be on his shoulders and he can focus on the chooks.
Yes I think it was a big move for him to step up and play his best footy against the Faders as OUR captain.
IMO he woulda known he'd been dumped some time ago and he's reacted like a true Australian captain would. No sooking, he's just doubled down on his efforts.
Hope he wins a premiership. That's the big prize...
