Great news. I really don't feel like he is playing much worse than he was 5 years ago.

Take a moment to appreciate JWH and Toops. Both have been the best player in their position (overall) for a decade. We've been lucky to have them.

I’d love to believe it because he’s my favourite player but so far I can’t get any confirmation of this online. Please let it be true.

I'm surprised some people think Mark from union will come into the FG team when he hasn't even played rugby league since he was a kid.

I don't think the club is pinning huge hopes on him except as a good depth player but it would be awesome to see him excel.

It feels like there's a special aura around the club once again.

Toops is the best Easts winger I’ve seen play, furthermore, I saw Billy Mullins ( named in the Easts team of the century) and as much as I liked Billy Mullins I favour Toops. These two players really changed how wingers play the game. Up Easts.

              $450k a year. That's steep for a depth player.

Not confirmed according to this report but talks underway for a 1 year extension. Toups I am over the moon with because we know what we get with him but with Crichton he can be an awesome player but has never been reliable as Toups is so we could keep him but no guarantees he won’t be hot and cold.

Coach Robinson only mentioned at the press conference this morning that a decision will be forthcoming in a few weeks - Toops to play on - Either NRL or ESL

                      According to the Telegraph

The Sydney Roosters have locked down a key component of their backline with veteran winger Daniel Tupou extending his stay at the glamour club.

The decision to give Tupou another 12-month contract comes after Dane Gagai rejected the club's advances and instead decided to remain with Newcastle.

Wonderful news. I love the bloke and I'd love to see him beat the club try-scoring record.
1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.

                          Really??

Gagai would have been a significant downgrade on Toups. Doesn't make sense.

As an athlete he will be fine
its harder to go from league to rugby with the rules then the other way
he is 6”4 and 104kg and loves contact and breaking tackles
and he broke open multiple times against the all blacks and springboks so against quality opposition
if anyone could come across from rugby I bellieve mark n and Jordan petaia Would be two athletes who would easily adjust

This is what the Australian headline read but can't see the rest because of a pay wall.

Market watch: Roosters extend Tupou deal

The Sydney Roosters have locked down a key component of their backline with veteran winger Daniel Tupou extending his stay at the glamour club.

Gagai's management leveraged us to get the best deal for his client. Shaun Johnson's manager is doing the same thing. These 2 players don't want to leave the club they're currently playing for. The manager finds another club that's interested, real or fake and get's their current club to match or better the offer. It's player management 101.
