  • Roosters paying $2.85

    Just checked the TAB...
$2.85 for a depleted Manly side to lose to the chooks (minus Pearce but plus Moga) at Brookie.

Shall I put $100 on it?

I NEVER bet and hate how it's such a big part of the NRL, but I have a feeling about this game.

If it were my money, then I wouldn't do it, at least not on the chooks.

I've bunged a monkey on the Roosters, with faith and belief in Daniel Mortimer.

Well they're not really depleted? They have Foran, DCE, Matai (our bogey player), Watmough, Lyon..

I have grave fears with BJ and Moga defending on same side of the field.

my biggest concern today is the lack of creativity, without Pearce where are our points going to come from, we will try hard early on but Manly will outclass us in the end with the score being something like 30-10 ish.

                Who's better on paper? IMO...

Dean Whare (never heard of him) < Anthony Minichiello (red hot form)
Jorge Taufua (heard very little of him) < Tautau Moga (tipped to become one of the greats)
                Jamie Lyon > Joseph Leilua
Steve Matai =< Shaun Kenny-Dowall (really depend how they play, on a good day SKD is better)
David Williams > Sam Perrett (Sorry Sammy... Wolfman's got you covered, although I heard he's injured and a possible scratching)
Kieran Foran >>> Braith Anasta (I'll say no more)
Daly Cherry-Evans > Daniel Mortimer (On form you'd struggle to argue otherwise, although Mortimer has a point to prove and DID have a fairytale season where he was rated as up there with DCE a few years back - still both young guns looking to establish themselves and I'd tip Mortimer to try schooling DCE who my scepticism tells me is good, but rated better than he actually is due to his star studded team WINNING lots of games.)
                Joe Galuva > Tinirau Arona
                Daniel Harrison < Mitchell Aubusson
Anthony Watmough > Aidan Guerra (I rate Guerra... but Watmough should be playing Origin)
Brent Kite > Martin Kennedy (haven't heard that name for ages... some good memories of him though)
                Matt Ballin < Jake Friend
Jason King < Jared Waerea-Hargreaves (I say this because I think JWH will fire up against his old club... when he does he is AAAAAAAWESOME!!!!)
Liam Foran > Boyd Cordner (yeah... he is...)
Vic Mauro ? Lama Tasi (never seen him play... Tasi's good though)
Darcy Lussick ? Brad Takairangi (ditto)
George Rose < Mose Masoe (Manly's starting to scrape the barrel... Mose's solid off the bench)
                Nick Skinner ??? Jack Bosden
Tim Robinson ??? (probably won't even play so pretty much irrelevant... sure he's a nice guy though)

                ---

Manly missing: Brett Stewart, Glenn Stewart, Tony Williams (who they've been missing all season anyway) and Jamie Buhrer (possibly Wolfman too... any word on that?)
                Roosters missing: Pearce

Some key players missing there for Manly, but mainly big men who are replaced by other big men.
Roosters are missing Pearce, whose recent form has really been IMO what's kept us in most of the recent games.

                ho hum...

Many of these ratings are based on the fact Manly wins lots of games and we don't. BUT... they have a stack of old name rep players who a few years back would only exist together in this fashion on paper with some serious salary cap alerts.

                ---

It's my $100 (or $200 I'm even thinking) so my choice. The bookies obviously know their $hit... but nothing ventured, nothing gained.

$200... am I an idiot? Any last minute considerations I should make based on my above opinions?

Mmm... and Manly have their halves.
I'm tempted to say that Anasta and Mortimer is the worst halves pairing of any team this round.

You're overly optimistic. I wouldn't bet on us today with anyone's money.

No wait. An NRL referee's money would do. And maybe one or two troll-like posters here.

                      SKD better than Matai?
                      Friend better than Ballin?
                      Mose better than George Rose?

You are off your head mate.

Matai>>>>> SKidmark. Matai practically won it for them against the broncos.

DCE>>>>>>Mortimer. DCE is being hailed the next wally lewis and IMO is more desevring of the QLD no 7 than Gronk.

Ballin>>>>>Friend. Ballin is a QLD rep player, who does his job week in weekout and is vital for the sea eagles.

+ pearce is our only real playmer this year.

                            Another consideration... they're on 12 points, we're on 10.
Manly's season hasn't exactly been fantastic.

Although they have beaten Brisbane, the Dogs and the Tigers (amongst others.)
Parra beat them... so like us they have been inconsistent.

I think I'll just do it...
Troll me afterwards if I lose my monies, ask me to shout you a beer if I win. That's the way it always goes, so I'm cool with it :P
