  • Pilot Medical Update: Round 8 ANZAC Day Cup

The Sydney Roosters squad has been assessed following the Club’s Round 8 ANZAC Day Cup match against the St George Illawarra Dragons.

Michael Jennings has sustained a significant tricep injury, which was confirmed via an MRI. Upon consultation with a specialist, the Club has decided to commence a period of non-operative rehabilitation.

There were no other injury concerns for the other players that featured in the match.

It sounds like it was a torn tricep tendon of some description—partial or full tear? - Going down the non-surgical route first, as if surgery were required, the recovery time would be up to 6 months, which would be season-ending.

Getting short on outside backs - Fetalaiga Pauga is the last available outside back in the top 30 squad - Lewis Murphy and Alex Young are on development contracts - Lewis missed last weeks NSW Cup Game and not selected in NSW Cup this week either - Alex is playing Ron Massey Cup.

Coach Robinson said that Luke Keary "rolled" his ankle and was hobbling but it's not mentioned in this medical update.

Roosters only have 27 players signed for the top 30 squad - 4 players on development contracts - Lewis Murphy , Alex Young , Ethan Roberts and Xavier Va'a

Sydney Roosters Casualty Ward 2024 - 9 players(8 injured and 1 serving a suspension) - 3 could be back in round 9 - Sitili , Radley and Sandon Smith - Spencer Leniu back round 10.
      • Michael Jennings (triceps, TBC)
      • Daniel Tupou (knee, TBC)
      • Sitili Tupouniua (head knock, TBC)
      • Victor Radley (hamstring, Round 9)
      • Sandon Smith (elbow, Round 9)
      • Spencer Leniu (suspended, Round 10)
      • Billy Smith (ankle, indefinite)
      • Robert Toia (ACL recovery -unknown return date)
      • Tyler Moriarty ( Hand - unknown return date)

Sitili to centre maybe (he's done alright there before hasn't he?)

Tupou's still no certainty hey? Robbo said he's sore and wanted to play but got instructed not to and is touch and go.

Pauga seems to have lost form too? Shame as for a while he was showing great signs.

            Time to sign Josh Schuster.
Off contract and can play edge / centre / 5/8

Add him to the top 30.

He copped a knee to the head from Sloan as he scored his try. I was a little concerned so good news. Should have been placed on report.

I think he faced 2 charges (for hits on Walker and Keary) and has copped 2 fines.
1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.

Lewis Murphy played NSW Cup today.

Hugo Savala was apparently pulled from the game and is on standby for NRL.

Radley and Sandon Smith will have to pass fitness tests, and Keary, although not listed in the post-game medical report, has an ankle injury, as Coach Robinson alluded to; he rolled his ankle and was hobbling after the game.

So one assumes Keary may also be in doubt for the Broncos game.
