50 years as a supporter. The first half last week was as bad as it gets

I think there is some over-reaction following the weekend game.

We have had much lower moments and poorer efforts than that in the past. Plenty is salvageable yet.

No way mate. I admire your positivity but that first half was a big concern.

It wasn't pretty mate, but I'm thinking more of those games where it starts bad and only gets worse for the 80 minutes. At least in the Dogs game we gave it a much better shove in the 2nd half. Almost pulled off a very unlikely comeback win. Its something to take into this week, even though our depth is getting a workout in the backs.

I just listened to Robbo's 17-minute press conference and the thing I don't understand is he is yet to acknowledge how terrible the first half was.

It worries me that the club accepts poor performances so easily. I'm hoping for a much better start tomorrow night, we are missing key players but our pack SHOULD be too strong and our backline is good enough for the knights.

Not dropping the ball in the first few seconds of the game would be considered a good start.

And having more than 35% possession in the first half would be handy too.

Losses like last week are in our DNA. We've always failed to respect supposedly lesser teams and we frequently get absolutely embarrassed by them. As fans it's hard to take, but it should come as no surprise.

That said, I agree that last week was as bad a loss that I've seen in recent years.

Something about it was completely infuriating.

Just when we were all hoping that THIS SEASON would be different, we tank against Penrith (somewhat forgivable) then totally underestimate the Dogs (like a bunch of disrespectful, entitled a-holes.)

                I dunno.

I'm just feel fundamentally let down.

                All talk no action.

In the context of the last couple of seasons unfortunately it’s typical and perhaps a little worse when we play for 40 out of 80 minutes.

I think Keary said it all in the presser what the answer is. Let’s see if we turn up with the right mindset tonight and if the team really were embarrassed by last week’s effort

It looks like another season that will pass us by.
Im still not sure we can develop talent effectively.
Sualii has been a major disappointment in terms of his determination and commitment.
                    Cheese ain’t a hooker.
I thought Egan was going really well last year then fell away.

As far as footy goes I feel for Su. (Obviously he is paid large sums and for this I don’t feel sorry). Young kid with huge expectations and no experience. I really don’t get the logic in persisting with playing him in the centres given he is leaving seasons end. The only place he seems capable of defending is the wing and I feel he is more potent attacking as well on the wing. I thought he was great on the wing and was starting to form good combo with Manu

as far as developing talent and players generally , which players could you say have improved over the past few seasons?

                      Collins
                      Radley this season
                      Whyte
                      May to some degree
                      ?

I get it’s a team and a well performing team lifts players individually but where does it start ? Individual attitude? Systems?

I think panthers debunk the myth about injuries and I’m sure robbo has said himself if you rely on 17 you are in trouble

seems like players coming into the system “roosters way” aren’t developing
