    Good!

Watched him play Union on tv last weekend.
He didn't pack into any scrums, was rarely sighted in the play [which was 'speeding' along at about 1kph]...except when someone passed him the ball and he strolled over under the posts, barely out of a walk, untouched thru a gaping hole.

    He should stay in Union.
You just summed up Union mate. No one in the backline gets much ball. Tough to judge him on that.

Might just be a technicality I'm picking on, but he isn't a forward so can't really "pack into any scrums" in union.

Maybe rucks and mauls? From my limited understanding of union though, mainly the forwards get involved in the ruck/maul work. While they are fighting it out the backs/centres get into position so that the ball can be spread out.

Usually though, the ball seems to get lost inside rucks/mauls. At this stage the ref blows the whistle and 15 mins gets burned off the clock while the scrum packs down (which usually fails and collapses, forcing another penalty and... ugh!!!)

Yeah I played union as a kid and loved all the forward work...etc but as a spectator it appears to have turned into a game where te whistle is blown every 10 seconds and nothing happens.

Ireland vs Australia in the last world cup was an example of this! I couldn't stand it!!!! The Irish had this tactic where they just locked up the ball every time we hit it up, causing a penalty/turnover. AAAARGH! Off-topic but that game took rugbyto a new low.

But we're buying him as a sopposedly gun second row forward who'll be smashing opponents in defence for much of 80 minutes...and running defences ragged in attack and scoring tries at will?

          Source?
I would have thought we were buying him as a centre. Our 2nd row stocks are pretty well covered.

So potentially we'd have to bench Moga or SKD?
(I know Moga might be a winger...etc) but hmmm.

I think SBW would be good for the 2nd half off the bench. When the opposition's tired he can come into the 2nd row/centres and bash/weave his way through tired defences.

This season most of our games have been won in the 2nd half so could work! (Okay that sounds dumb but y'know what I mean.)

Oh, so we're buying him as a centre?
              Well that's a different matter.

              That might work.

Rugby centres are far different than NRL centres. JWH was a rugby centre.

If SBW does return we need him to play lock and get those offloads going in the middle of the park.

With his ability Sbw would be perfect at lock,,,also he'll only be taking either arona or nuwassallas spot in the team and i can live with that

SBW played his best footy at the Bulldogs in the centres. We have a top quality back row already here.

JW-H last played front row at Rugby for the Manly Marlins.Centre would be the position that is the MOST similar between the 2 codes,as has also been quoted by Matt Rogers.
The luxury with SBW is that we can slot him into several different positions as needed and not lose much.
That is a Brian Smith style player as well.

I find it hard to believe he will play in the centres in NRL. Lock or second-rower for mine although if he is a centre it won;t be in the traditional role.
