Rnd 3 - 8:00pm, Friday 22th March
ALLIANCE Stadium, SYDNEY
The first of our two grudge matches against our arch rivals, the South Sydney Vermin.
After a very disappointing result last week, we will have to lift for this game. They will be up for this, there's nothing surer, so we have to match them for enthusiasm, physicality and execution. They will be desperate to get on the board and avoid a 0-3 start to the season.
300 games for our ultimate warrior, Jared Warea-Hargreaves. What a champion player and bloke he is. Every team needs a bit of mongrel, someone to take it to the oppositions key players. Jazz does that every week. No running at halfbacks for him, he's always straight at their biggest bopper and more often than not he wins that battle and sets the platform for our side. He deserves all the accolades he gets this week. I seriously love the bloke. I hope he has a blinder and we win this one - just for him.
No Kez this week, after he attacked Turbo's knee with his head last week. If that was Jazz or Rads they would of got suspended. Somewhat of a reshuffle results, with Sandon Smith coming into the 6 and Watson in the 14. He was very good last week in Reggies, racking up good meters and 50 tackles. He will add some of the spark that we were missing last week.
Gus comes onto the bench, with Nat replacing Wong in the starting side. Angus too went gang-busters in Reggies last week. Let's hope he has returned to form and can make a difference for us.
Souths have dropped Ilias and have installed Dean Hawkins at halfback. I know nothing about him, but he is less experienced than Sandon, so maybe we aren't at as big a disadvantage losing Kez. Wighton could be a big in for them if he brings his A game, but he is not a consistent footballer and is known for drifting in and out of games ... hmmmm, sounds like someone else I know. He should fit right in there.
I'm coming up from Canberra with my wife, 2 of my daughters and their partners. I want to celebrate Jazz's 300th in style. I'm really looking forward to this, it should be ripper. I reckon we'll bounce back from last week and put in a big performance. Fingers crossed for a famous win!!
Bring it on.
Go Jazz !! GO EASTS !!

This is the game where he needs to run at halves.
Run over them and score tries.
Collins needs to do it too.
So too all our forwards.
The game has changed, it's now "win any way you can, as long as it's legal".
Mason's upcoming marriage to Todd Liubinskas was cancelled a few weeks before it was to happen - Todd Liubinskas is the son of former Wests and Balmain first grader Mick Liubinskas.
Mick Liubinskas was used as an illegal replacement in the 7-all draw with Canterbury and Wests were subsequently stripped of their 1 point. (This led to an historic three-way play off for fifth place in 1975 between Balmain, Wests and Parramatta). Parramatta went through to play Canterbury in the Minor Semi Final.
One of my Brothers worked with Mick Luibinskas at Telecom - one of the telephone exchanges
I remember the one on Bronte Rd growing up as a kid. Not sure what's there now.
it wouldnt suprise me if Trent just rotates all our middle forwards during the year. give them a lighter work load in nsw cup but also the benefits of developing the crop of new guys in the nsw cup side.
my only fear this week is Joey Manu coming in of his wing all game like last week on Brookes. Bighten will be on to that and will draw in Joey and get the ball to the wing quicker.. Manu needs to be smarter (or was it a Trent move to shut down Brookes) anyhow winn the middle win the game..........lol@souffs.......
Damien Cook is set to switch to the bench in favour of Siliva Havili starting at dummyhalf, according to The SMH. Havili is a beast on his day. He doesn't have Cooks speed but he makes up for that with brute force. He also stiffens up their D in the middle.
