I started the end of 2023/ new year with divorce, lost my kids, my house, my dogs etc etc

all the material items I will recover, but damn it’s a struggle sitting in a quiet and empty home.

so thank you rugby league, you are the mental health break I need (yes, I know I need to sort out more avenues than just league. That’s a work in progress) but what better way to start the year than with a win over last years Grand Finalists and in Las Vegas.

Good on you mate for sharing your circumstances, and from one roosters fan to another I'm glad this win made things a bit better. We have a good season to look forward to, and I think your year will get better as we go along too. best wishes mate

My youngest told me this afternoon that she wants to follow the panthers, like her grandma. Bloody bandwagon supporters I tell ya haha

just into the second half of the game now, first half was scrappy, to be expected for the first proper hit out this season. But our defence looks gritty! and we all know that’s when we’re at our best.

lindsay Collins though - could he potentially go down as one of the front row greats?

his motor and involvement is enormous! Those involvements in the first 2 mins of the second half to chase down the broncos break and then be there to recover the 5th tackle grabber to the in goal is the 1%era you talk about. And Lindsay nails them consistently.

A lot of people often quote about keeping things to yourself etc & I agree in a sense of sharing certain information.

But have found the whole situation easier to navigate when speaking about it - like it makes it feel more ‘real’ which in a sense is speeding up the rebound process.

As briefly mentioned - the hardest part is losing the ability to be with my girls consistently. Something I took for granted when I had them and something that will leave a hole in any parents who has that choice taken away.

I have 2 girls, a 4yr old and a 7yr old & they’re mini versions of myself (obviously better looking ) so it feels like I’m losing my sidekicks.

But I’m slowly finding way to shift my mindset and focusing more on bettering myself so the time I do have with them and the memories we share are what they deserve.

anyway enough ranting from me.
