  • Benefit of the Doubt

I cannot remember the Roosters scoring a try with the benefit.

Even the biased Kiwi commentators thought the Rooster fans were going to be pleased with the decision in the Moga try.

It was a get square for BJ's try. I nearly dropped my beer when they gave that to us.

I think JP's try was a worthy contender.

If the video ref had any latitude whatsoever to disallow that try, he would have done so. It was clearly a case of simultaneous grounding and therefore a try.

But still, I guarantee no Roosters fan thought they were going to give it.

And we spent the rest of the game paying for that decision.

Agreed, I mustn't know the rules very well because for BJ's try I thought it was fine, loved how the commentators were bewildered at BJ's try but were certain Shaun Johnson's was legit the second he outleapt SKD. IMO they were both tries every day of the week so no dramas.

Fox should look at getting someone to just call games in NZ from the studio and let people choose their commentary.

Those sheep shaggers don't even pretend to be impartial.

Turn the sound of the TV off and have ABC going on the radio. They were pretty sure SKD had swiped it until they'd watched a zillion video replays and seen that he wasn't even touching the ball when it landed.

I actually thought just for one fleeting moment that Johnson had lost control of the footy on the way down, and because it touched SKD before Johnson regained control of the footy, that it constituted a knock on ?
Obviously not because the video ref said it was a try, so it must be just like Dean Young's try in the 2010 GF ??

I thought this as well and I also thought that Mateo obstructed SKD by jumping on his back while he was trying to contest the football.

Good call on both counts, but as always nothing hardly ever goes our way with the ref's - all 3 of them.

That is precisely how I saw it but knew the refs would give it as a try and the only thing I was amazed by was that they actually called it a BoD try as opposed to a straight out try.

I AGREE I was certain though it would be giuven a try To avoid disappointment and frustration at the officiating These days I mentally prepare myself for us to be given no fvaourable calls

I will admit I was not shocked that Leiluas try was given I thought the video referee had no option but to give If he hadnt On what has been happeneing this season He would not be in the box next week

Hawkeye - your eyes are going on you. It was very clear in the video replay: Johnson was DEFINITELY not wearing red, white and blue.
