  • Captain Radley

Last night I attended an event involving all players. The room was filled with 61 players and coaching staff and there were only 4 other people in the room. It went on for two hours.

I was surprised at the leadership and maturity of Victor Radley. He definitely stood out as the leader of the whole team. From what I saw he’s captain material. If he can fix up his on field discipline I think he’d made a great captain when Teddy retires.

Hope you enjoyed the night buddy. Sounds like fun.

Anything else you can report from the night keeping in mind its a public forum?

What specifically did you see from Radley that speaks Captain material?

I didn’t want to be a pain in the arse and quiz them about footy when this was an event away from footy so there wasn’t much footy talk. I did talk to a few of them and Robbo about the Vegas trip.

When the program was coming to an end and the coordinator asked if anyone had any questions, Victor stood in front of everyone and very eloquently spoke about the cause and thanked the volunteers for their work. He also led the way amongst the players when they were doing all the lead up work.

One thing I did notice is that Teddy and May seem to be very good friends.

Interesting intel mate. On what the public see, you wouldn't pick Vic as an obvious captain. Shows you don't know what guys are like in the inner circle.

I think Mickie Lane has suggested Vic as captain material (he could have been stirring though).

That's a really important point and one that gets missed quite a lot when we are critical of some of the selections and decisions the club and coaching staff make. We only know a smidge of what's actually going on and are not privy to what certain players are like around the team and club

I remember hearing Trent one year in a pre season trip away talking of a player that he like to coach. It was Victor. He said tell him once and its done. Trent also went on to say how much of footy brain Victor is. its a Tradie thing...lol.... i agree he would be a great captain. natural leader

Trent should probably tell Victor to fix his on-field discipline; that’ll sort it!

Ive said for ages that Rads should be captain.
He is a genuine local junior who will never play for another NRL club. He absolutely LOVES the Roosters & he's the most popular player at the club.

You are dead set up there with Wayne as the number 1 Roosters supporter.

Fair enough mate. I never thought of him as captain material but he is one of my favourite players so would back him 100% if he gets the gig.

I keep thinking back to some comments on here calling for him to play reggies or even go elsewhere.

                              As if either would happen...crazy.
