I'm predicting Sam Walker to go to another level next year and own the number 7.
it's been a few years in the making and still not guaranteed.
if 2024 was to be luke Kearys last year would you be prepared to give a rookie a shot at partnering Sammy in the halve and be prepared to give him time to develop.
if that's the case I hope we win it next year with Keary and Walker , which I think we will with a good run of luck around injury and suspensions.

        Totally agree.
He'll still be mid 20s when he comes off contract in a few years.

        Definitely worth his worth!

I wouldn't of minded getting Ron Volkman back off the Warriors

          Kid is electric

Third club in 3 years, that's not usually a good sign for a young player

We'd win comps with Walker & Burton.

Burton is still who I'd be chasing regardless of his contract situation

He’s very small. I know Keary is small but moving forward I’d prefer we had a bigger 6. Small guys in the defensive line are too much of a liability.

I think Sandon Smith is the future but would give him an apprenticeship off the bench for another season or two. With that in mind I'd be looking at an older half who isn't injury prone, has big game experience, a decent defender, can organise and will just be consistently good throughout the season whilst leaving the flashy stuff to Walker.

Taking a quick look at the off contracts for 2024 and using the above criteria that'd really only leave Foran, Johnson, Reynolds and Chad Townsend. Reynolds and Townsend would probably want the 7 jersey so that'd leave Foran and Johnson who both seem pretty unlikely.

Perhaps someone is available in the Super League?

I think Sam Walker will replace Keary at 5/8.
Who will play halfback, I don’t know but I think Sandon Smith could do the job but it will take him at least 5 seasons before he dominates.

I'd like to see Keary play another season (2025).

Losing JWH, Toops, Suaalii, (Manu?) and Angus would be enough turnover in a season.

For this to happen Walker needs to take a massive step up. If you look at Cleary's development as an example is was 22 or 23 when he started to really dominate club footy regardless of if it is in 6 or 7 jumper it doesn't matter to me.

Slim pickings. We may as well bring back Pearce.

Me too. People seem to want to retire our stars early. Jarred, Toops and now Keary.

Me too. He's such an important part of the club, not just on field. Big hole to fill. Maybe young Sandon is the option rather than spill too many beans elsewhere. He is confident and hungry to learn.
