Thanks mate - I read it this morning. No surprises in their analysis and I think it's largely consistent with what most readers of the 'pen would be thinking (including that Robbo's starts are too slow, Wong's a gun and that collectively Teddy, Cheese and Keary need to do better in 2024 if we wanna go anywhere).
Fingers crossed! Once again we're a stacked team on paper that we all expect better results from. I love Teddy but I think comparing him to Slater was fair. Either he can pull a Cam Smith / Slater kinda season in 2024 that brings us to a top-4 finish with none of the darn clunkiness... or I think we need to broach the idea of moving Manu to FB, while freeing up money for a 5/8. Fox says Dearden or Mam. TBH I wouldn't mind seeing Dearden in RWB.
I say this with the caveat that I WANT to see Teddy and Keary absolutely destroy all their doubters in 2024. Would love nothing more than that!
I think we're right up there against most teams in the forwards, halves and three quarters.
May Teddy make me eat humble pie but he is showing signs of wear and tear and has lost some zip, naturally. Lining him up against the quicker guys like Walsh, Ponga, Drinkie and the Hammer worries me. There's a point of difference. I hope he ditches the rep games.
The SMH has an article on what each team should do to ensure success in 2024. Apparently, we need to release Suaalii to the Dragons and JWH to Cronulla immediately. That's it.

Yeah I read that article too. As if Jared would leave the Roosters!
Our last 2 pre seasons I have watched almost every highlight reel, read all the articles and attended training sessions in anticipation of a stellar season ahead.
Obviously history will show we’ve fallen flat quite heavily the last 2 seasons and more importantly this season in particular showed us that we have some big chinks in our armour that need fixing in order for us to be in the same ballpark as Penrith, Broncs, Storm
We need to cut out the penalties and errors. Start off with that and be repetitive about it for however long just drill it into their heads. Justin Holbrook will he provide an outlook on our attack that we’ve been lacking? God I hope so.

IMO it's really just Penrith who've set a high bar. Wouldn't be surprised if they win 4 or 5 premierships in a row.
Melbourne (who we outplayed but still narrowly lost to) and Brisbane (who choked hard) will be very much beatable, however. With a new assistant coach (seriously... bugger Ryles), Gussie (hopefully) having a far less disrupt[ed/ive] pre-season, Cheese settling into our systems and May/Leniu providing far more than Lodge (who completely lost his shyte by the sound of it?) we have a far better foundation than we did last year.
Adding to the above... Sua'ali'i has had his crack at centre (where we ALL thought he'd kill it - though the haters retrospectively claimed they didn't), he's signed with yawnion (good - the speculation can p!ss off) and we've got Young joining us.
IMO with an improved roster (which includes player development) and less disruptions (Ryles and Lodge were marched mid-season as they lacked the requisite mental fortitude - Gussie was unwell and I hope he's now turned a corner as IMO that totally farked his season prep) we will do well in 2024.
The big thing we need to achieve is to get to September and have close to our top 17 players fit and ready to play. It seems like that has happened since 2019
And we need to start better than recent seasons. Playing catch up takes its toll. Robbo was adamant that was our priority for this year but it just didn't happen. It's a tough early draw too, not sure how many first 4 rounds wins we can bank on. Would suck to be 0/4!
