In reality we aren't as good as the top teams. If we want to win the comp in 24 we need to be better than the Broncos and Panthers. This season we just didn't beat the good teams and we were lucky to beat some of the mid level teams.
There are plenty of things that will be to our benefit next season and i can only see us improving.
But to be solid all year, to minimise injuries, to have x factor, these are the hard things. The Panthers just have a super hard running style and good game management every game, all season. Its that consistancy that makes them so good. Add to that, they seem to have very few injuries.
I like that a few of our younger players got some good experience towards the end of the season. Maybe some fresh legs, combined with determination to win a comp, is what we need. Throw in there an experienced spine, experienced pack leaders.

so things can happen and change quickly
atm we have a huge rep contingent and could have guys like smith, suaali, sandon smith, Watson, may, Whyte, Wong, critchon, sitili and butcher x 2 fighting to get a spot in the 17
if we won next year I would not be surprised at all
an improving roster with young and Leniu coming in
we need luck with injuries
players in form and in their correct positions
start better earlier as if we don’t make the top 4 your just making the numbers up

Positives for next year.
1, Hopefully our coach learned this year that
Suaalii is a winger not a centre. But maybe a backrower in his future.
Manu is a centre not a 5/8
Keary is a 5/8 not a half
Walker is our halfback, and not a clone of Cronk.
And that we need to be top 4 to win a comp without having to win 5 straight games to get there at seasons end.
2.Young will add speed.
3. Billy Smith will be a top centre.
4. Sandon Smith will develop into a great 14.
5. Hopefully Leniu will add speed and strength off the bench.
6. Wong will develop into a top backrower.
7. Smith will get better at dummy half.
8. Sitili will be back at full fitness
9. JWH will get to finish his career as a Rooster.
10. Radley will become the mature footballer we all want him to be.
11. We will have a pack of forwards with the speed and strength and ball playing and heart to more than match any other squad
with Lindsay, Smith, JWH, Wong, Sitili, Radley, May, Leniu, Butch 1 and 2, Whyte and maybe Angus and Brown.
12 If we lose Angus or Suaalii , or both we will gain $1.5 million in caps pace.
13. Pauga, Momi, Allen will be very good backups.
14 May might be a top line prop going forward.
Looks like our top 17 might be
1 Teddy
2 Toops
3 Billy
4 Joey
5 Young
6 Kez
7 Sammy
8 Linsday
9 Brandon
10 May
11 N Butch
12 Sitili
13 Radley
14 Sandon
15 Leniu
16 Wong
17 JWH
Plus....Momi, Watson, Pauga, Allen, Whyte , Toia, Brown ??, Suaalii ??, Angus ??
Plus 3.... or maybe 6 others.Last edited by NorfolkStreetKid; 09-19-2023, 11:33 PM.
