I can understand him when he speaks.

He will become a top shelf halfback for us. He has improved dramatically over the last month.
He has to be our next captain IMO.

I would believe that. A student of the game no doubt, almost obsessively so.

That's the funny thing about rugby league. A player of supreme talent like Todd Carney comes across like he cares SFA about his career; he's tried hard to throw it away. On the other hand take a player like Mitch who isn't nearly as naturally gifted, but works really hard at improving his game. He's a bit simple , but if you told him wasn't allowed to play NRL anymore he'd probably burst out crying.

I missed last year, but my brother represented and won the quiz.

How funny was the Johnny Lang impersonation on Friday?

Cool. I'm not moderately known DJ, Steven Ferris either.

                      As you were.

However the worst part was when The Mumbler received his players players award.

Apart from being drenched, i was not less than 2 mtrs from him and as i am not fluent in gibberish, understood very little apart from the constant err's and um's.

Maybe when need to hire Geoffrey Rush to teach him how to speak.
                        Simple solution...a public speaking/elocution coach.

"When pausing to think of the next thing you want to say...don't 'um' and 'er', just say nothing...a silent pause, then speak your next statement."

He's young, and hasn't been trained in 'media'.
At his age I couldn't say anything in public like he does...I would've just taken the award, said 'thank you' and sat back down.
Then I was taught public speaking/elocution.
                        "How now brown cow".

Geoffrey Rush is not a champion Rugby League player.
                        'Horses for courses.'

It's habit, the umming and erring, he's probably nervous.
Tony Abbott was a shocker for doing it, but he's getting better.

oh dear I am a bit disappointed that we need to discuss how well a player speaks I find it to be offensive and judgemental is any one on hear a brillant public speaker ....so what if footy players dont all have univesity degrees we are not all academics and thank god for that what a boring place it would be my opinion for what its worth is to maybe not be so critical of all our players and put your self in thier shoes how would you feel to be called dumb and told you talk gibberish it really isnt very nice and would not do much for your self confidence so maybe you should also think before you speak

Unfortunately Mitch will have to step up to the plate & improve his public speaking. He is being groomed as the new captain & sponsors expect him to be a good representative for their name & the club.
I would imagine that this is being addressed & is a work in progress.
Simplified, we would all just like our players to play footy & that's it. That's not life in the real world, anymore. Fact.
The better a speaker & public image, a player is, the better & easier it is for the club to sell themselves to sponsors.

                              The real world.

I was there on Sunday night and had no problem with understanding what he was saying - Ms Tee is just having a gee up as usual.

Whilst Mitch will never be the elequent public speaker his father is, he is improving as he matures on and off the field.

At least Mitch has developed to the stage where he can complete a sentence - which is more that can be said for some of our young polynesian boys and their one word answers. Now that can get painful.
