Ash Klein made a customary mistake. We challenge and it gets overturned. The opposition gets a rest and a chance to reset their defensive line. The side with a successful challenge is heavily disadvantaged.

At least the captains challenge goes some way to reducing the rub of the green.
For example Harry Grant had no captain's challenge left at the end but lay down for 5 minutes trying to milk a penalty when he wasn't hurt and Walker had clearly tackled him below the shoulders. At some point IMO the ref should have the instructions to say 'I didn't see it mate and you have no challenges left... get up and play or I'll penalise you'. Or.. 'I care about your welfare Harry... HIA!!! Get off and do an HIA with 5 to go' with him then standing up to say 'WTFFFFF?!??? NO NO!!! YOU SHOULD BE PENALISING THEM!!! MY HEAD IS FINE!!! NOBODY TOUCHED MY ROCKSTAR HAIR... SEE... NO HAIRS MOVED!!! OMGGGG!!! AN HIA?!?!?' Response? 'You were the one who asked for it'.
There's 'captain's challenge' and then there's 'appealing to the bunker'. It's the latter that annoys me because the Drizz (mostly Munster) spent the whole game trying
Heck at one point Munster INTENTIONALLY lowered his head into (I think Radley's?) hand, our player then moved his hand away to prevent the blatant milking, grabbed his jersey near the chest and Munster had another go at slipping down. I think he even got a penalty for it, though later in the game the ref even told him 'NO... YOU ARE MILKING IT!!!'Last edited by ism22; 09-16-2023, 09:09 AM.

If you accidentally make contact to a players head when making a tackle with your arm, shoulder, torso regardless of them falling just before contact is made it's a penalty. It can also be put on report, sin bin or send off.
If you accidentally make contact to players head and brake his cheekbone, eye socket etc with your own melon then it's ok, no penalty, play on unlucky son.
Flawed rule?

1. If you're wrapped up by a defender whilst standing, the referee calls held, you don't hear the call and offload the ball you then get to retain possession and play the ball on the mark. (unless it was the last tackle)
2. If you're tackled on the ground, the defender falls off the tackle, you assume that it's play on meanwhile the ref has called held and you either didn't hear the call or it was simultaneous. You are then penalised.
This does happen. Both 1 and 2 occurred when we played the Raiders.

What system do you want to replace the captains challenge with?Last edited by Batemans Bay Rooster; 09-16-2023, 03:47 PM.

I think the most frustrating thing is what Teddy said to the ref. Why give the benefit of the doubt to the attacking team by allowing play on when there is a challenge that allows you to double check. Grant could've challenged it, we couldn't as it was play on. Lack of logic and common sense adding to the fact he missed it blindly despite being 2m away from it.
