  • Sydney Roosters NRLW Squad for Round 9 vs North Queensland Cowboys

The Sydney Roosters are proud to announce the line-up for their inaugural clash with the North Queensland Cowboys at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium.

Tyler Bentley and Millicent Scutt become NRLW Roosters players # 77 and 78.

I have not seen Millicent Scutt play, as usually she is the Roosters NRLW assistant strength and conditioning coach, but with the injury toll, she has been handed a contract.- Has a background in Rugby Union

Be Surprised if Isabelle Kelly (HIA) and Millie Boyle (Shoulder) play though.

good to see strange extending his time at the roosters. seems like a good sort of bloke to have at a club and if he can attract the type of squad that we've got then he's worth his weight in gold

NRLW teams: Assistant coach Millicent Scutt handed contract as injuries ravage competition

Injuries have hit the NRLW so hard the Sydney Roosters have handed a contract to their assistant strength and conditioning coach just to name a full squad.

With one game left to play until finals, the Roosters have signed Millicent Scutt as a backup hooker. She has been working with the squad as part of the training staff.

She has a background of playing rugby union in Sydney, but her addition to the squad is a depth signing as the club struggles with a massive injury toll at the end of the season.

It comes after replacement hooker Shawden Burton suffered an ACL injury which will require surgery across the next fortnight, adding to the list of season-ending injuries at the club, which includes Amber Hall (lisfranc), Tavarna Papalii (knee) and Aliyah Nasio (arm).

Millie Boyle is also racing the clock to return from a shoulder injury against the Cowboys on Saturday, while Jess Sergis has undergone surgery on a fractured finger and is long odds to return unless the Roosters make the grand final.

Skipper Isabelle Kelly also failed a head injury assessment last week and will miss the last round of the season.

With all the struggles, Boyle says there should be no conversation about expanding the season again next year after this year’s rise from six teams to 10.

“We’re definitely not ready for an expansion at this rate,” Boyle told Big Sports Breakfast on Tuesday.

“We’re only heading into round 9 and a lot of depth has been challenged, we’re at our last resort and we don’t have any backup hookers, halves, fullbacks, any of those key positions.

“People are playing out of position. Development players are being brought up into the 24.

“We’ve actually just signed our S&C because we have no players left to play with us. I don’t think there’s any room for expansion beyond the 10 teams, not for the next four to five years.”

Last week it was revealed the Australian Rugby League Commission has reached out to NRL clubs to gauge an appetite for entry into the NRLW from as soon as next season.

They do have 2 development contract players yet to be selected in Matilda Power (Half) and French Women's International Perrine Monsarrat ( Centre/Second Row) who I thought played quite well for the Central Coast Roosters in the NSW Women's Premiership.

                NRLW Squad Update: Round 9

Sydney Roosters NRLW Coach John Strange has updated his squad to face the North Queensland Cowboys at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium tomorrow evening.

Millie Boyle has been ruled out with an ongoing shoulder complaint, while Keeley Davis has also been omitted from the line-up after sustaining a low-grade hamstring strain.

Mya Hill-Moana will now start at prop and Joeli Morris will replace Davis at hooker.

Pani Hopoate and Mia Wood join the interchange bench, with Lexi Kiriwi listed as the 18th player in jersey no.21. Lily Rogan is the remaining reserve.

Tyler Bentley and Millicent Scutt will become Sydney Roosters #77 and #78 when they make their NRLW debuts tomorrow.

The final line-up will be confirmed one hour prior to kick-off on Saturday at 5:00pm.

even if we lose we're a chance to get a home semi and will almost definitely avoid playing the knights up there first week of the semis but i'm sure the girls would like to play well after losing last week. davis out but so long as she doesn't have anything bad her having a week off will do her good - best case scenario she's got 140 mins of playing dummy half ahead of her

The Roosters need to pick it up as down 6-0 and playing like they are thinking about next week instead.

Top 2 finish on the line

and it wasn't a knock on - the cowboys player knocked it on. crazy. add in the mia wood being called out and a couple haven't gone our way.
still, bit of aiken awareness - kicking on the 4th tackle cos the half time siren was about to come - has us in a good spot. too many mistakes but some good things as well
