It is thought provoking...my take is that the players approach and attitude to their game is a reflection of the coaching and preparation they receive. So I think the tinkering came from Robbo with a realisation that something had to change. Big Ears coaching is an example of stubbornly doing the same thing and expecting a different result.
I feel it was Robbo who loosened the grip himself...first. Then the guys relaxed.
But yes, it's up for debate.
yeah, no doubt the coach sets the tone and is ultimately responsible. i think robbo's style is to 'enable' players. maybe it's his philosophy, maybe it's his personality, but while he's a strong leader, he's not a ricky stuart or craig bellamy kind of my way or the highway sort of leader. he sees everyone - from coaches to players to back room being part of a team where the sum is greater than the individual parts and each individual has to play his role
That performance, especially the defensive resilience in the first half and then the scramble in the second had Cordner and Friendys DNA written all over it.
We won that game with defence, you could see Cronullas confidence deteriorating with every set we turned them away.

Yes it does have their fingerprints all over it, the last 6 weeks points conceded per match on average 12.3 per game that’s the magic number we keep our opponents to that number we have enough points and fight in us to progress, the health of our squad is the problem right now we are busted in the backs, our spine need to get us home, execution was ordinary against the Sharks and our discipline at times was woeful, sheer determination guts and self-belief got us home we need to be better against Melbourne.
Avoid the niggle keep our heads and shut down Hughes and Grant they always have a huge impact against us.

Yes a game won on defence Two things that stood out for me was Baker belting across field in cover when defending our line to tackle a winger in the first half and Lindsay’s chase in the second half After the game he was down on the fence talking to some people I walked down pat him
on the back congratulated him on the win. then said what a chase. He smiled and said thanks Im
not sure Teddy makes that tackle as he looked gassed from the attacking break he made.
Good educated or researched comment about you being more worried about our attack then defence as the only side who made the eight that we gave scored twenty points against was Warriors round in 2
