  • NRL Judiciary Update: Waerea-Hargreaves and Keary Submit Pleas

Luke Keary and Jared Waerea-Hargreaves have entered their pleas after being cited by the Match Review Committee in Round 26.

Keary has entered an early guilty plea in relation to his Grade One Dangerous Throw Charge. As a result, he will receive a monetary fine of $2500 and will be available for the Roosters Round 27 match.

Waerea-Hargreaves has entered an early guilty plea in relation to his Grade One Striking Charge. As a result, he will be unavailable for three matches.

The forward has also submitted a plea of guilty for his Grade Two Dangerous Contact Charge, however will contest the grading of the contact at a Judiciary hearing on Tuesday evening.

If the charge is successfully downgraded, Waerea-Hargreaves will receive a $3000 fine. If unsuccessful however, he will be unavailable for four matches.

Luke Keary was issued with a Grade One Dangerous Throw Charge for an incident that occurred in the 56th minute of Saturday’s match.

Should Keary elect to enter an early guilty plea, he will receive a monetary fine of $2500, if found guilty at the judiciary however, he will be unavailable for two matches.

Jared Waerea-Hargreaves has received two citations by the match review committee – a Grade One Striking Charge and a Grade Two Dangerous Contact Charge.

Should the forward elect to enter an early guilty plea on both his charges, he will be unavailable for a total of six weeks as each charge carries a three week suspension.

If found guilty at the judiciary, however, he will be unavailable for up to eight matches.

Keary and Waerea-Hargreaves have until Monday at 12pm to enter their pleas.

That's the approach I thought they would take with Jared...risking 1 week to save 3...

I genuinely think it was a grade 1, so he SHOULD get off. But will he? Probs not. His reputation will probably ensure he doesn’t get in downgraded.

Looks like 7 weeks! I’m flabbergasted at how stupid we are. That’s our finals game in jeopardy and 7 weeks next season without our best forward. For once cant we begin a new season without suspensions? Retire the legend. He’s just not able to control his emotions anymore. We need players on the field not serving silly suspensions.

Hopefully there’s a few loopholes we can use to reduce impact to Rooster matches. Internationals, trials etc. I’ve seen some funny stuff offset suspensions

Don't worry, the gods will kill us even further when 3 players bust their ACLs on the weekend.

I might be wrong, but JWH usually seems to start each season slowly and does all his stupid stuff early on then takes charge and comes home with a bit of a wet sail.

Unfortunately it hasn't been the case this year.
1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.

Compare it to other grade 2 dangerous contacts and he should be fine. Mad not to challenge the grading imo, can reduce his suspension from 6 weeks to 3!

He will be ready to for the prelim! Fresh as a daisy

Don't know about that. I see JWH usually as either good (his worst) or great. Can't recall him having a poor game.

For years crowds relished the Blue, the Stink mostly provoked by some dog act. Didn't matter, love it they did, and it's now come to this. Rightly so of course, it had been thuggish which was deemed to be a turnoff and audiences were needed for adverts. But was it the right call? It could take on elements of championship wrestling as well as actual real foul play. The crowd loves it. Gus loves it. Rex certainly loved it. Jazza's "headbut" would have been the norm.

                        From the NRL website.
I think this doesn’t help JWH case, looks like they are going to make examples of players appearing tonight.

Raiders forward Corey Horsburgh has been found guilty by the NRL judiciary on Tuesday of a Grade One shoulder Charge on Broncos forward Corey Jensen and will be suspended for four matches.

As a result of the suspension, Horsburgh is only available to return again this season if the Raiders reach the grand final.
