I don’t know Grubber but his info was pretty spot on, he wanted to join us and it was going to happen but obviously something has happened to change all of that. Things and plans can change even at the last moment from either the club or player perspective or both.

Walker has flaws in his game and is currently lacking in particular skills required to be this future star half back you think he will be

4 at least come to mind

* Minimal if any Game Management skills - will need to be teamed up with a genuine organising half if not able to learn and be developed in this role which will mean switching to a running 5/8 role.
* Defence has improved but will need to keep improving as he will continually be targeted in D which will then have an impact on his offence game
* Playing to structure- Ad lib plays may look good on highlight reels but coaches love structured play and structured game plans
* Kicking game - lacks distance which may never be rectified so will need a halves partner who has a distance kicking game.


Some players are not able to be developed to perform a different role - Keary for an example

As I assume he will be playing right side in offense in 2024 how will he be bringing Manu and Dom Young more into the game - Manu was like a shag on a rock waiting for the ball that never came - No use having 2 of your main threats in attack parked in the garage

I worry more about Brisbane coming from him when Reynolds retires than I do him asking for a release.

He is young and will develop. I have already noticed drastic improvements in some of these ‘flaws’.

Walker will be a star, and for us to miss a 21yo as much as we have shows how much we need him already and he will only get better! I honestly believe his ceiling is huge, bigger than any other current half. I really hope Robbo is grovelling trying to make amends for dropping him.

I agree that Walker likes our club. He’s a good young kid with an excellent attitude and tremendous skill.

problem is that his family are absolutely filthy with how Robbo has treated him this year. That feeling from his family will, I assume, continue to get worse if Robbo fails to pick him now that he’s proven his fitness. Crichton - who has been worse than poor this year - somehow gets rushed back into the 17 with no game time behind him.

Family can influence a lot of people’s decisions. If Robbo hadn’t treated Walker poorly, you wouldn’t have to worry about the Broncos coming calling when Reynolds retires.
