  • The Mighty Hutchinator!

Good game last night from the Hutch, was really solid in defence gainst the big boys, a 40/20 , did the job.
I think Walker or Smith would have been a liability in defence againt those big boppers , Manly have some giants running wide at small blokes.
Keary did well , got rolled over late game when we were all out on our feet , so well done to him too. Solid game.

Hats off to Collins , played 80 minutes.

Much better weekend coming up after a Thursday night win.

The people who criticise Hutch only understand the game from an attacking point of view. They have zero appreciation of a longer kicking game and tackling the opposition deeper in their own territory, or a bigger body defending our own try-line.

Been critical of Billy Smith over the years but at long last he showed why the coach has persevered. He seemed much more confident and it was a formidable Manly Centre pairing that he and Joey were up against.

The Hutchinator played strong done good as Big Jack Gibson would say.

The Hutchinator would be a type of player that Big Jack Gibson would like - None of this I don't want to play left or right side , I don't want to come off the bench and I want to play x position stuff from the Hutchinator.

Whatever position and or role the Hutchinator is asked to do he will do it for the team and club to the best of his ability with no questions asked or any complaints

No on field or off field histrionics either

Mrs Walker had described him as a bumbling cluts on many an occasion But now has a different view of Billy after watching last nights game live So excited seeing him break a tackle to score she burst inot a lively little song slighyl altering the words of Billy dont be a hero and singing Billy you are my hero

I best get back on topic Drew was quite good last night and I found myself thinking of how simple Rugby League can be when a half is playing in the halves and a centre is playing in the centres as opposed to a half playing in the centres and a centre playing in the halves

Hutchie's been a good and loyal servant for several years now. He stood up during the injury crisis and keeps turning up. Perhaps Hutchison/Walker would be the way to go.

So true and very noticable how much stronger the team looks with a bigger body in the line. It gives the oppositin less options and although the smaller players can make those tackles, they often get dominated and allow a quick play the ball etc or cause their defending partners on their left and right problems as they don't know whether to go in or not.
And when you have a man in the bin which is often in the modern game, then it becomes even harder to hide two spot players. You really need guys that can make one on one tackles and dominate as best you can...especially if the man missing is an edge defender.

As I've noted before, they have sped the game up to bring the little man into it apparently, but the little man is a bigger liability now than before.Especially once a team gets on a touch footy style roll attacking a retreating defensive line.

I must admit when Hutch kicked the 40/20 the first thing I thought of was Salvo and it made me chuckle to myself. We actually looked like we had a bit of structure last night but it's hard to tell how good we were because Manly were pretty ordinary and Klein totally ruined it as a spectacle with his constant involvement.

The Ref was picking on the Hutchinator - they score (Wong) off his 40-20 and the Bunker had to find a way to deny the try so the Hutchinator doesn't get the credit.

Then the Ref has the Audacity to place the Hutchinator on report late in the game

The Hutchinator is the Richie Cunningham of the NRL.

I did hear though during the call on Channel 9 about the POTM phone App the Roosters have and the Hutchinator is often high up in the POTM voting.

Seems to be a fair few Hutchinator supporters out there.

Does anyone know how to access or have the link to this Roosters POTM phone App

Give it another week or so before labelling him an immortal.
1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.

As long as he plays in the halves when needed, a good tonic.
