Walker has to learn game management and structure and work on his kicking game - greater distance - Nathan Cleary went down to Melbourne pre-season 2020 and had kicking lessons with Richmond AFL Captain Trent Cotchin and hasn't looked back.

As far as scoring 5 more points per game with Walker in the haves- that had very little to do with Walker - 2 line Breaks (Dolphins and Warriors) and 2 Try Assists ( Parramatta and Storm) in the 6 games.
Always running the ball is far from ideal. He just starved his outside men of quality ball and stunted out attack. Made it very predictable. You need a mix.

I don’t think the fewer points is coincidental. That’s a very close minded view imo. He could’ve had try contributions that were not counted as try assists. Additionally, just his offensive style could’ve helped fatigue the opposition allowing space for other players. He is our halfback, to say he doesn’t contribute to our overall attack is ludicrous.

Regardless of all this, as an opposition I’d feel far more threatened with both Walker & Manu in the team than just the latter.

    • Rads has been ruled out with hamstring tightness.

Egan replaces him on the edge, and Baker comes into the 17.

So your statement that the team lost all it's attack since Walker was relegated is not the case at all as he was not producing in offense as the stats clearly show (try assists and line breaks) and not running the ball which a running half is supposed to do. - see below

Walker was one of the problems in offense and the solution was to relegate him to NSW Cup to work on his offense game

Walkers offense game was noticeably in decline as the stats show so the relegation was more than warranted - His offense game was showing an improvement during his stint in NSW Cup in those 2 games before he was injured.

I could post his kicking game stats which are not great nor are they for Keary - certainly both have to work on getting extra distance with their kicks

              Walker

              NRL
              • 12 runs for 135 metres - Dolphins - 1 Line Break
              • 8 runs for 110 metres - Warriors -1 Line Break
              • 9 runs for 47 metres - Souths
              • 7 runs for 38 meres - Parramatta - 1Try Assist
              • 5 runs for 35 metres - Storm -1 Try Assist
              • 4 runs for 31 metres - Sharks

              NSW Cup
              • 19 Runs for 133 metres- Dragons - 1 Try Assist / 1 Line Break Assist
              • 14 runs for 101 metres - Warriors - 1 Line Break / 2 Try Assists/ 1 Line Break Assist

Who was this so called decent centre they were supposed to sign though and where would the money come from as the Cap was pretty much spent
Walkers form was reflective of how poor the team was playing. Our forwards were losing the middle third. There were too many errors and soft penalties given away. We couldn't build any momentum so it becomes difficult for the playmakers to shine and do their thing.

With that said, there was no plan B so the best option was still to ride it out with Sam Walker and work hard on turning things around. The Keary halfback, Manu five-eight , JS at right centre is one of the dumbest things I've seen a high profile NRL coach do.

Dropping Sam Walker weekend 4 positions and farked our season!

In years gone by I would’ve been devastated with this news and pretty much concede a loss before the game even began, that’s how highly I valued Radley’s presence on the field..

But now,I think it’s probably a positive for the side as we won’t miss his constant errors and penalties conceded..

                    I’m not particularly worried either.

Irrespective of Radley, we should win this game, especially with Tino out for them. But I guess it’s not a certainty for us nowadays.

i remember manu dying with the ball too many times.
Neither did Walker one has to say - only 1 the difference in Try Assists and Line Break - Manu played 2 games against the best D side in Penrith/ Warriors game played in heavy rain / Cowboys game in rain as well and the Cowboys really turned up with their D in that game.

                      Manu - 2023
                      • Dragons - 17 runs - 127 metres - 1 Try Assist / 1 Line Break
                      • Warriors - 16 Runs - 149 metres
                      • Cowboys - 14 runs - 125 metres
                      • Panthers - 8 runs - 70 metres
                      • Bulldogs - 14 runs - 118 metres
                      • Panthers - 15 runs - 113 metres

Manu's other Games at 5/8 prior to 2023- 4 games

Manu wasn't too shabby at 5/8 in 3 of these games below and the 2 last year (2022) had folk on here excited enough to advocate for Manu to play 5/8 in place of Keary.

Coach Robinsons decision to play Manu at 5/8 was not a poor decision by any stretch.

It does shows though the difference of when a player is in good nick form wise compared to when not ( 2023 compared to 2022) - Bit like in Cricket - when a batter is in form the ball can look like the size of a beach ball but when not its looks more like the size of Squash or Golf Ball.

                      Manu - 2022
                      • Penrith - 17 runs - 160 metres - 1 Line Break Assist/ 1 Try Assist
                      • Dragons - 16 runs - 194 metres - 3 Line Breaks / 2 Line Break Assists / 2 Try Assists

                      Manu - 2021
                      • Raiders - 12 Runs - 108 metres - 1 Line Break Assist/ 2 Try Assists
                      • Penrith - 5 Runs - 39 Metres - 1 Try Assist

Sam earned his spot over the two knuckleheads that cost us the semi last year & most of the others currently running around. The low hanging fruit metaphor (that doesn't support your argument) actually means that it is the easy choice but not necessarily the best choice. Sam isn't the problem, he is the solution. Most people know that.
The team was scoring at average of 17.6 points per game that Walker was a halfback this year there was no attack when he was playing if you think our season fell apart because a 20 year old halfback who wasnt playing well got dropped then I have a bridge to sell you

Both Teddy and Manu have had years to forget in defence as well. Walker threw an intercept against the Sharks; well Keary threw a horrible one against the Sea Eagles and Smith against the Storm……do they get dropped? Nope.
Is it any surprise that since Walker was dropped we stopped scoring points?
Face it Simp, Robbo dropped the wrong player. Robbo needs to let him play his natural game, move Keary on and get a solid organising organising half. Is S Smith that, who knows?
Walker was not the issue in any shape or form.
We weren’t scoring points when Walker was in the team an average of 17.6 in the 6 games he played of course Walker is an easy target compared to established stars we don’t have the depth to drop Tedesco and Manu. Trent Robinson dropped Walker with the idea that he work on a specific area of his game for a week or 2 and he unfortunately got injured shit happens but people like yourself and the rest of the angry bystanders are refusing to admit that’s what happened and that Walker was playing well when he has 2 try assists in 6 games and was awful against Cronulla but also bad against South’s and Melbourne

What do you tell the family when they ask how the games was? "Jarred had 12.34 hits ups, made only 2.876 mistakes. We only scored 15.3 points which is below our season average of 17.6. I clapped 5.4 times which is below my season average. Next time try ..."Sam chipped over the top, did some great Harbour Bridge passes, threw an intercept, tackled well above his weight., great smile on his face throughout". If it's the Harbour Bridge pass you are trying to sell me, I'll take it at any price.

Well I certainly wouldn’t be mentioning any great things that Sam Walker did this year because there’s nothing to report there.
