  • Repetition, repetition, repetition

This is Cronk’s mantra - but could this be the cause of our attacking issues?

To repeat something over and over again, we train our brains to follow a process automatically, thereby remove the need for thinking.

So if an opposition knows our plays (by watching our previous games), then it will be easier to shut down and defend them.

I believe this is why we have been struggling to score points and why we have missed Sammy, particularly with his off-the-cuff footy.

It’s too late in the season to change now, but could it be a possible factor?

Yes we need structure and shape, but maybe not to the extreme that we are possibly doing it now.

    Thoughts?

I think people are probably over-estimating the amount of influence Cronk has at the club. From what I understand he’s only in 2 days a week on a part-time basis and almost exclusively works with the halves.

There’s no doubt our attack has become more conservative this year but Cronk has been in our coaching set up for 4 years now, you’d think if he was having an influence over our attack it wouldn’t have taken 4 seasons to eventuate.

Penrith play the same way week in week out with their grind footy game style which is very effective to say the least.

Do the Roosters copy this style ?

Cronk's involvement is a few hours one day a week - mainly providing feedback on the halves games and not a hands on role as such

Cronk shows up once a week to collect his backended contract money from 2018-2019.

You can't tell anyone works with our halves. If it's 2 days a week...it's 2 days too many based on their performance

Cronk may have been a great player, possibly a future immortal.
That doesn't mean he can coach, Freddy was the same being a great player but I don't rate him as a coach.
I have no idea about Cronk's coaching ability but our halves aren't doing anything special.

There are others in the halves, Cliff Lyons was a great half but you can't coach what he done.
Sterlo could have made it but had no desire with such a healthy salary in the media.
Andrew Johns was a great player but isn't really a coach, wants to be one of the boys.

On the other hand you have Robbo who played only a handful of games but is one of the top 5 coaches of the NRL era.

Correct Sir. Not a whole lot new in them, but there are no other clubs that can match them for grind, fitness, willingness etc

It's all about muscle memory but you need to be practicing with the correct technique. Pointless spending countless hours a day kicking for goal if your technique is all wrong.

Whoever has their fingerprints on our U7’s attacking style needs to go, regardless of how many or few hours they put in.

Thanks for 18/19 Cronk, we love you but catch ya.
