  • The short Kick Off

There is a reason no replay was shown, at least 6 of the Merge team were 3 mtrs in front of the kicker.

And that's not the only time they were in front of the kicker during the match.

Our boys were offside from the drop kick that led to the Soward penalty.

Spot on. A team that is fully professional and properly coached and captained would be awake to that tactic. We weren't, and not for the first time year.

The really dodgy decision was in the first half when they fumbled a bomb and the refs said we had advantage.

I thought... they had to have a clear advantage otherwise they have a scrum. Whats the bet Harrigan comes out tomorrow saying that they got this wrong?

Short kick off or not, Friend fell off Nightingale and should have shut him down.

And this one, along with one or two bits of wrestling and a stripping penalty, were the only OBVIOUS things that went against us. Was at the game n haven't seen a replay. The way some of you are carrying on, Cummins was in a grand plot with Saints that they would get the ball back from the kickoff and then score two tries in four minutes. Wake up to yourselves. If we had won, we'd be applauding Cummins for having the guts to penalise the Milkman.

We lost because we didn't get the ball off the kickoff and then couldn't wrap the ball up in tackles. They weren't 3 metres offside. Saints offloads were much more effective, often coming when the ball carrier had 3 defenders on him. From the way our players were positioned at the kickoff, one went for the ball and the others were positioned for a rebound.

Their tries in the last 4 were a combination of momentum, skill, persistence & luck. Saints are a good side with some very good players. Most of their side is experienced compared to ours. We have fewer very good players. Take BJ. I wouldn't want to pass it to him even with room to move, cause he'd make a great run and then go for an impossible offload. We were the better side but sometimes, that doesn't mean much when things are close. It was a great game and we tried our guts out. I'd rather have tonight than the game against the Cows.

Lastly, I think it seems as if Pearce has finally been given the responsibility to run things. Anasta was very much second fiddle. I think & hope we will get to see him really blossom as a half.

Actually I think we were awake to the short kick off, I think it was Mini who positioned himself to try and leap to catch it, just that he got out leaped for the ball be a dragqueen. He usually is positioned back on the try line for a kick off, so he was up at the 10 mtr line waiting for the short kick off. Where we farked up was not being able to get a defensive line set in time for the next play the ball which they ended up scoring from.

I dont think there was a play the ball, just missed tackles and ball watching

That call was right. As soon as we end up with the ball the advantage is over

My main concern in the whole game was Nathan Fien. He passed it forward more often than he didn't.

Could someone clarify these two incidents for me, because I thought they were the wrong call on both occasion.

                              1. The penalty against Anasta for the one on one strip, which led to St Georges second try. The only thing I can think of is that if the ref called held and Anasta kept going.

                              2. When Weyman lost the ball just after he scored the try. Looked like a strip from Kennedy, however, when watching the game when I got home, the commentators didn't seem to have a problem with it.
