  • Lodge Officially gone

    Via NRL.com.au-

The Sea Eagles have signed Roosters prop Matt Lodge on a train and trial contract for the remainder of the season.

The club confirmed in a statement on Tuesday that the 28-year-old forward will join the club immediately and line up for the Blacktown Workers this Sunday in NSW Cup.

The Sea Eagles will be Lodge's seventh club after starting out in under 20s for the Panthers and Storm before making his NRL debut with Wests Tigers in 2014 and later playing with the Broncos and Warriors before joining the Roosters in July last year.

Honestly bit crappy how all this ended. Start of the season I was hoping we kept him, but how quickly that soured when JWH stayed on. Best of luck to him, now let’s see our young blood grow

Signing a train and trial contract, will he be available for the NRL team?
How much are we paying for him to play there.
Im sure I read over the weekend Manly had already used the 30 spots available.
If he can play in the NRL team it might be a fiery match if he is playing against us in a few weeks.

Imagine if JWH and Collins go down. We’d struggle to beat The Tigers.

Sad end but you would have to think is he re signed for a couple more years things would have turned bad at some stage
did his job on little $$ we were paying him with warriors paying for the majority of it

Most teams would struggle if they lost both starting props. Especially players of that calibre.

                  You make a good point.

I just think that the gap between Jarred and Lindsay and the rest of them is huge.

something not right with that bloke... dont question our club..they took a punt .went good for half a season but obviously they had good reason to flick him..I would say with out knowing he is just a plain dickhead.

Hopefully Whyte signs a long term deal otherwise we are light on in the middle with him gone, Fletcher going to the Bronx and apparently May not in the coaches good books and hoping to leave.

I do think it was for the best though. Too inconsistent, and players that bounce around clubs is never a good sign.

He whined in a press conference about the money he received from our club but he went and signed a train and deal with manly this doesn’t make sense to me unless teams across the NRL aren’t all that high on him anymore which is probably a good thing. He hasn’t played well for us all season I don’t mind seeing him leave.

There are a lot of players off contract this season and next season I think we are going to be very active in the transfer market in the next 12 months.
