You don't know how much they are on. Leniu was reportedly signed for $525k by the media. Granted the media wouldn't have a clue either.

The point is even $1.1 million is closer to $800k under the old salary cap. We need to adjust our expectation of how much a player is worth under the new salary cap.

Maybe Roosters can offer him a coaching career along with Friend, Cordner, Cronk, Pearce, Maubs... nudge nudge wink wink.

If you look at the Roosters NRL squad

Cap is 12.1 million and the minimum wage is 120k - not sure how many would be on the minimum wage though if any

      Estimated wages for 2023
      • Tedesco - 1.1 million
      • Toops - 400 k
      • Billy Smith - 200 k
      • Manu - 800 k
      • Suaalii - 750 k
      • Keary - 800 k
      • Walker - 300 k - rises to 500 k for 2024/25
      • JWH - 750 K
      • Brandon Smith - 800 k
      • Collins - 700 k
      • Crichton - 600k
      • N Butcher - 400 k
      • Radley - 600 k
      • Hutchinator - 200 k - Off Contract at end of 2023
      • Turpin - 200 k - Off Contract at end of 2023
      • E Butcher - 300 k
      • Sitili - 400 k
      • Watson - 300 k - Off contract at end of 2023
      • Momirovski - 300 k
      • Allan - 200 k - Off Contract at end of 2023
      • May - 200 k
      • Paulo - 200 k - Signed with Manly for 2024
      • Wong - 200 k
      • Whyte - 200 k
      • * Brown - 120 k - Off contract at end of 2023
      • Baker - 200 k - Signed with Brisbane for 2024
      • Toia - 200 k
      • * Lodge - 120 k - Signed with Manly for the remainder of 2023.

Estimated wages of 11.49 million for 28 players

Doubt that many would be on minimum wages so being paid above that - between 130 to 200 k or so

      * Estimated what the Roosters may be paying Brown and were paying Lodge since their former clubs were still paying them

12.1 mill less 11.54 mill leaves an estimated 560 k plus NRL Long serving player allowance of 250k - 810 k spare

2024 - New Signing and extensions

      Leniu - 750 k
      Young - 500 k
      Murphy - 300 k
      JWH ?
      Toops ?
      Billy Smith ?

      Suaalii 750k
      Cheese 800k

Gee whiz if these estimates are even remotely close to fact then that’s a wasted 1.55 million.

These values have been well publicised and Smith even he said he was getting 800 k

Yeah I hope so too, Toops and Suaalii talk about chalk and cheese one a loyal, level headed and committed member of the Roosters family, the other a mercenary, gun for hire took the money (as he would) and then left for Rugby anyway.

Recruitment prioritised Joe in the hopes he would stay here, blind Freddy could see what his next move was (stupid move) paid this on potential and got reemed for it, even when Suaalii was killing it on the wing last season he’s not worth half that amount not yet anyway, perhaps after a few seasons of committed, consistent football yes.

IMO Ibrahim should offer to buy him a pub... all outside the salary cap, of course.

Spencer’s salary is correct. Some have said it’s higher but it isn’t.
