I know mate but I don’t think we win the comp without bolstering the team with the odd top-liner. 2013 - Maloney, Jennings, SBW. 2018/19- Cronk

Tino would be an amazing signing, make him captain. Do whatever it takes

To quote Peter Peters - Some on here would advocate signing the magna carta if it was a player.

It's a no from me - develop the youngsters in the system

Won't be able to match the following in any case if he does decide to exercise his option to leave the Titans

The Canterbury Bulldogs are reportedly set to make a bizarre offer for Gold Coast Titans captain Tino Fa’asuamaleaui, with a $4 million contract and a share in a pub on the table.

Apologies if already mentioned but Tino has activated his get out clause. Oh how good it would be

It's not like we haven't bolstered the team.

Tedesco, Keary & Brandon Smith is probably 25% of the cap.

I think the main squad issues lie internally with the talent we are bringing through or rather haven't been bringing through over the last 5yrs.

Is he another of those Gilmeister type players who only play well for Qld? Or just before Origin selection?

The Titans captain is on $900,000 this season and has a ratchet clause in his deal, linked to the NRL’s salary-cap increase, that will see the Origin and Test star become a $1 million player next year.
The Titans are hopeful no rival club will be able to beat his Gold Coast salary. Picture: Getty Images.
His salary for the 2025 and 2026 seasons will then rise to $1.1 million annually, a wage hike that will force potential suitors to pay at least $1.2 million a season.

The Roosters were one club interested in Fa’asuamaleaui – they made preliminary inquiries last week – but quickly withdrew when they learned of his pending $1 million contract.

Mammino said Fa’asuamaleaui had enormous respect for Titans senior advisor Mal Meninga and added he had no interest in stringing NRL clubs along.

“The reality is it will be hard for clubs to afford what Tino is on,” Mammino said.

“We’ve had no formal offers at this stage.

“I’ve told the clubs, ‘I don’t want to lead you down a gully and stuff you around, we will only talk if things are genuine’.

Love Tino and think he is probably the best prop in the game and top 5 forward of the whole NRL. But no, $1M should only be set aside for elite spine players IMO.

Fans reacting to $1m as though the massive salary cap increase to $12.1m never happened.

Too much Gaigai/Gilmeister vibes for my liking.

Surely with JWH and Gus on the way out, their wages would more than cover Tino’s mooted $1m ask?

We can pay him a million a season to lie down and clutch at the back of his neck, sure.

With his increase in wages to 1.1 million in 2025/26 as the articles says - others may have to offer 1.2 million plus- Teams could sign 2 quality players for that @ 600 k each and even 3 at a pinch

If you look at the Roosters NRL squad

Cap is 12.1 million and the minimum wage is 120k - not sure how many would be on the minimum wage though if any

                              Estimated wages for 2023
                              • Tedesco - 1.1 million
                              • Toops - 400 k
                              • Billy Smith - 200 k
                              • Manu - 800 k

                              • Walker - 300 k - rises to 500 k for 2024/25
                              • JWH - 750 K
                              • Brandon Smith - 800 k
                              • Collins - 700 k

                              • * Lodge - 120 k - Signed with Manly for the remainder of 2023.

Estimated wages of 11.49 million for 28 players

Doubt that many would be on minimum wages so being paid above that - between 130 to 200 k or so

                              * Estimated what the Roosters may be paying Brown and were paying Lodge since their former clubs were still paying them

12.1 mill less 11.54 mill leaves an estimated 560 k plus NRL Long serving player allowance of 250k - 810 k spare

                              Murphy - 300 k
                              JWH ?
                              Toops ?
                              Billy Smith ?
