Probably the best effort by our guys all year. They wanted to win today and got within a bees dick of getting there. The forwards were again strong and our defence out wide the best it’s been for months. Whyte and Wong need more game time, they were both good and will get better. Corey Allan had his best game for us, Toups was strong, Butcher had another big game, Turpin was great until his HIA. Didn’t miss Angus at all. JWH and Collins were both good. Even Hutch went OK.

We’re still clunky in attack and I think a lot of it is coming from Keary’s “go to” play that everyone knows is coming. He doesn’t have the pace to put the defence in two minds any more which reduces the space that Manu has to do his thing. See what happens when Smith threw a beautiful cutout which gave Joey lots of time and space; he scores.

One of those seasons. Let's start planning for next year. Play some young players to give them key development going forward. Wong and Whyte solid today.
Walker couldn’t return too soon enough for both his creativity and goal kicking. I bet Robbo quietly regrets he dropped Walker. He’ll never admit it but you just watch how fast he rushes him in the team once he’s fully recovered. Whatever he was supposed to learn he couldn’t due to injury so it makes a mockery of Robbo’s decision if he doesn’t leave Walker in lower grades to learn whatever he was meant to.

No question; Robbo got that one and some other positional changes totally wrong, but we can’t change it so let’s all move on from that now.
Our season is done so let’s focus on getting the team right for next year and getting a bit of respect for the what’s left of this year. We are improving every week which is a positive and this is now our 2024 preseason. At this rate of improvement we might be a half a shot of winning the elusive round one fixture. We need our best playmaker back on the field and with the new found enthusiasm in the team, I think we will start seeing some points come.

Spot on mate. Will be shocked if he doesn't fast-track Walker back in.

Exactly mate. Keary's best trait was his running game. He doesn't run enough anymore and he has never been an organiser. It is so painfully predictable where he is going to run and what channel he is trying to attack. His general kicking was again average. The only issue I have with Sam and Sandon going forward is the lack of game management and long-kicking. With that said, Luke doesn't really offer that anymore either.

Yep dad loss after the massive defensive efforts but at least the mojo is coming back.
Be a hard bastard to shit on their effort.

                FFS calm down.

Why don't you target the one sided reffing from the cum dog instead.

Nobody (well maybe 1or2) can fault the effort today at a packed Brooky Oval minus 6 players out.

We deserved better. I badly wanted a win.

There will be no complaints from me if we can finish the year playing like that regardless of where we finish up.

                  Losing becomes a habit unfortunately....

All we can hope for is that they finish the year with the same type of effort now....

That was one of best games this season but let's not kid ourselves, we only played the Sea Eagles who aren't any better then we our this year.
Without DCE we would have won comfortably but if we played any of the teams in the top six we would have not even been close to winning.

Ive written this season off knowing next year we will be a top 4 side again, unfortunately so many things have gone against us this year.
When you are winning the 50 50 calls fall your way, miracle plays come off and fans turn up in big numbers which can influence refs decisions in your favour.

Actually in late breaking news from James 'Scoops' Hooper, Ben Cummins has been bought in at the last moment to officiate the bye so chances are the bye will be gifted dubious penalties, six agains and be able to ball plant and get away with it just like Manly. You heard it here first............ I don't know what we ever did to Ben Cummins, but he sure doesn't like us.
