I actually went into this game thinking they’d get absolutely smashed on the scoreboard as my faith in them took a real dive after the last game. Instead they played way better than I expected and started to look something like the real Roosters of old. I then felt bad for losing faith in the team. We were easily the better team. I wonder what would have happened if we got as much possession and territory as they did in the second half.

Firstly it's clear we're not the team of champions we were a few years ago, in which we could overcome (Refs) lopsided penalties and come up trumps. That has long passed, so the best we could hope for (these days) in a fair contest is an even share of possession. You may want to ignore it but I think the home team with 60% possession and 120 less tackles throughout the game was telling in the end. I reckon that was a great effort by the boys today and it's time to rebuild that champion team of the past. Can't happen overnight unfortunately.

Before the game Robbo said the team was going to play expansive footy. Only 3 or 4 sweeping plays, no passes between the forwards, all restarts from the in goal were long. It's conservative Cronk play. There's only one villain here (maybe two) and it's not the ref.

Look at the scoreboard.

Look at the lopsided penalty count and 6 agains I don’t know if we got any. The sideline official did not call a forward pass and was in the best position to adjudicate. A manly play the ball was incorrect but not penalised. It eventually led to their try. It wasn’t a fairly officiated match. One doesn’t need to be a rooster fan to see the bias. Commentators picked up things like running behind players which weren’t penalised. The team played an awesome game but couldn’t beat both Manly and a very biased ref.

You do realise we aren't making the 8 probably & have been crap & that any bit of improvement like today with 6 players out is a step in the right direction for next year.

As long as there's pride in the jersey for the rest of the season then that's all you can ask unlike what the Tigers & Bulldogs dished up for their supporters.
