what is/should be roosters footy? some thoughts -

    1. 'roosters footy' is 'good footy'. wearing the rwb is an honour and a privilege but it doesn't make you superman. playing good footy is always the goal.

    2. nevertheless, because of the club's history and culture and, in particular, because of the personnel of the club at any given time, roosters footy has some distinct qualities.

    3. roosters footy is something for the inner circle, something that the players and coaching staff create, buy into and hold on to.

Roosters footy, building blocks, foundations…just some of the fancy terms Trent the guru uses on repeat in press conferences, when he’s asked a genuine question around our horrid form.

      4. roosters footy is a practice, not a philosophy. roosters footy will be talked about in the inner circle but unless it is carried out on the footy field it doesn't mean shit

It’s a made up saying that every team uses when they are playing well.

        I hate the saying.

did we ever play roosters footy when we played in three GFs in the 2000s?

Roosters Footy is probably the most stupid thing any coach has ever said about a footy team.
it's cringeworthy and can only blow up in the speakers face, which it has done.....
shut up and play the game, let the results speak for themselves.

Failing to find touch from a penalty is classic Roosters footy.

As is a mistake on the set after a try.

Robbo’s other favourite is “We’re ready to go”

I’ve lost count on how many times he’s said that in his pre match presser only for the team to come out and get pumped lol!

How can you take it seriously.

                    I like the term.

Trent has created a style of football that he believes in and has attached it to our great club. In days gone by, teams played with different style rather than all the same way we have now.

Whether that style should change to suit the personnel at his disposal is what he is grappling with.

Do you change the players or the style?

I know what the majority of the Pen want

What about changing the Coach so he can mutter his mumbo jumbo somewhere else

Roosters footy is a concept Robbo has built, so no we didn't play it in the 2000s. It's easy to knock things like this when the team isn't playing well. I think the concept includes a hardness and a toughness and the next man up philosophy. And it includes not making excuses or laying down for penalties. No doubt it also includes other things I'm not privvy to. I think having some values encapsulated into a bit of a mindset or a theme for the club can't possibly be a bad thing. We've had periods over the last 40 years where we've been an undisciplined dogs breakfast of a club who wouldn't have had a single value we lived by.

                        We aren't that now.

I love it when we play high risk/expansive style footy and everything clicks. I miss that special aura we once had! The last time it was there was the opening 20 minutes against Souffs in last years elimination final before Klein lost control of the game.

I’m with you on this. Frustrating that he constantly says this and it’s so often followed up on match day by typical “Roosters footy”.

                              Exactly mate!

Hence why my concern with Robbo at the moment,is he really in control of what’s happening or has it gone beyond him?

Hearing his confidence before a match gets me pumped, but when we end up getting well beaten after the game I wonder if he and the players are on the same page?

I know there are no better coaching options available out there, but I worry about his control over the team at present!
