I know he's not playing but a couple of days ago on Jam & Cheese, Cheese noted that Lodge has been training as usual and was seriously pissed about the (supposedly false reporting) that we've offered him an immediate release.

Sounds like there may be no conflict/controversy and Fox is just telling BS stories based on the fact we probably can't afford him if we have JWH, Collings and Lenui on our books.

Just saying... I was harsh on him after reading the reporting (noting he's also been hooked - possibly too much mental noise going on if Cheese is to be believed) but it sounds like he could still be an asset to us this season.

Side note, Cheese should have no cast on now and if all goes well he'll be back next week. He's been doing a boot load of fitness training while injured and says he feels ready to rip in.

I listened to the poddy and the gist I got was Lodges management had requested an immediate release which was approved by the chooks and Lodge was completely unaware of it all, hence why he was shaken up by it. Could be wrong but that’s the way I interpreted it.

Lodge was real good in the last 10 weeks of last year, has been injured most of this year and besides that disaster game against Penrith he hasn't gone too bad. Im sure if JWH retires Lodge would have been retained but that's not how its worked out.

I'm not sure what Gordon Tallis has against Lodge- pointing to his signing as a type of person whom the Roosters would not recruit (he forgot we got Fergo out of the gutter) and lately saying he is too slow. Lodge isn't the reason for the Roosters poor form this year

I’m not sad about him leaving. He’s form was great at the end of last year but it’s few and far between unfortunately. I think if you could get the best out of him consistently he wouldn’t have bounced around so much. I’d prefer us to repay a club legend like JWH and invest in local younger fellas like Whyte & Wong.

as a fan you don't know what's going on behind closed doors and if the club thinks it's best to move him on then i'm on board but he's a good player and i would have been happy if he'd stayed
