Guess I'm an idiot then.
Those getting their hopes up because of Hooper saying we could be in for him......you do realise he's just been reading the Pen and has no inside knowledge. I would back Grubber over him any day!
I'm not getting my hopes up or gauging it off of Cue Ball's intel, i'm just saying purely from an on-field footy POV, Hunt would add great value to ANY team, especially ours and we lack what he brings to a side...
I'd be all for signing him and would love to see why people would be against his signing (apart from the threat of losing Walker, which is a concern I share), given he is probably the 3rd best halfback in the comp and daylight ahead of most others.

I think some people on here haven't watched many Dragons games over the last couple of years. The guy has been one of the best players on the field in just about all of their games for the last several years.
From an objective point of view, we'd be immediately a lot stronger if we signed him. That being said, I understand the fear of losing Walker long-term.

He brings leadership, determination, game management and a long kicking game. Things we are sorely lacking. Sam Walker could learn from him and should be apart of our plans. Given he was dropped for Joey Manu to play 6, I think sending him to 14 for Ben Hunt makes more sense than what was done earlier in the year.
Would you take a premiership in 2024 if it meant losing Sam Walker? I would as they don't come around too often.

He is motivated to win a premiership clearly otherwise he'd just continue to sit on a huge contract down there and lap up the plaudits of being their best player.

I would if it meant winning a premiership. Ideally, I don't want Sam going anywhere, which is what I said in my follow-up post. The club haven't done a good job with him recently without Ben Hunt.
