no one saw our performance this season coming. if we continue in the same vein it will be our worse year since robbo took over. how did it come to this? i don't know, it's probably a combination of factors -,world cup, injuries, suspensions, other clubs playing well ...

fruit trees don't produce a bumper crop every year and maybe there was just something in the soil that made us have a quiet one.

is it the coach? that's a possibility. maybe the message is stale or the players aren't listening any more. if that's the case then a) robbo needs to talk with the players, take on board any criticisms, and adjust (i think he can do that); and, b) the players need to have a good look at themselves and just start playing better. this stuff about it all being robbo's fault - all being robbo's fault - is a big cop out

We are screwed. Can't get rid of him for having mental issues but on the other hand he is playing like a spastic.

Gus is just being played out of position like Suualli & Manu. He is not a middle, he is a left edge backrower and a top notch one. I have never rated him in the middle even when he has done a job for us.

I agree he is far from his best but I will save judgement until he is given a crack in his natural position. Robbo was forced to throw him in there against the cows (Egan had a HIA) and he had his best game. Ran over 100m & scored a try.

I have no answers. Fingers crossed the team and the coach can turn things around. We will beat the Knights.

Robbo needs to take the brunt of it
could not get the team up fror the start of the season again
and then fu***d it with his decisions to play guys out of position and then drop Walker

                mistakes
suaali at centre - the biggest dissapinement of an overhyped player I have seen
                manu to 6 - never a 6 and doesn’t pass
                Walker dropped

most guys out of form like teddy, keary, lodge
gus is a showdown of himself
radley is a complete liability now

the roster is a top 4 roster full of rep starts but again has not delivered

                we need
                pace out wide
                luck with injuries
                Smith and radley to fire

leniu and young will be massive signings
rhe cheese allthough not dominating was still one of our better players until injured

players most likely gone or are gone
                baker
                lodge
                maybe Watson
                hutch
                momo
                paulo

the fifth and last guys said we were running about as they expected , they said basically we've recruited players that do not fit our style, and robbo appears reluctant to change our style to suit the players we have bought .

I think one of them is a junior coach at manly , it is an excellent podcast though , they call it as they see it .

Robinson has been lucky enough to achieve great success during his tenure at the top, including three premierships wins and storied success.
                    Stopped reading there.

Whatever point the so called journo was trying to make is redundant.

Is Robbo was 'lucky' enough to win three premierships, then by the same logic he is simply 'unlucky' now, and doesnt deserve any flak.

I hear the same crap from several mouthbreathers here on the regular too.

                    Intellectually lazy dross.

No, it is a good roster with 2 rep stars this year (Collins and Teddy).

players most likely gone or are gone
                      baker
                      lodge

                      paulo
                      Now you are onto something

Baker - I don't mind him, I just think he is too slow for the modern game.
Lodge - no lateral movement. Poor value for money (he wants a kings ransom, and for a guy who has never played in a rep team). Evidence he is quite a divisive character among teammates
Watson - im a big fan, but probably didnt show enough last year. And coming back from that knee injury will be devastating for his zip/acceleration. If there is no contract renewal, there are probably doubts he will get back to what he was.
Hutch - An honest toiler who gives his all. Just not quite good enough for the top level.
Momo - ditto Hutch. Way too many defensive errors for a first grade centre, and has not improved from what ive seen
Paulo - probably deserves another chance.

IMO dropping Walker was the turning point of our season. He copped the blame and if anything, our attack has been anaemic ever since.

I reckon this has been a long time coming as we always just assume that attack comes easy, but we've gotta get our systems right first. However, the reality is that the goal of footy is pretty simple... to score the most points! If you haven't worked out how to score points then you're gonna struggle to win games.

Halves win the big bucks because they SCORE POINTS and that's what Walker's good at. Replacing him with Manu took away our kicking and passing game. I think we banked on the idea that having a 195cm athletic freak running at smurfs in the halves would make-up for our lack of a kicking/passing game. Guess what? It didn't. Instead we lost the world's best centre and gained a half who has the kicking/passing game of an amateur when compared with 1st grade halves.

If Robbo wants one of his infamous 'themes' for 2014 then I think it should be ATTACK. Show a bit more respect for the small, calm guys who sniff out tries as opposed to the big dudes who only see red to the point where they go from 3 week suspension to 3 week suspension (greeeeat...)

yes but when you look at rep experience and players potentially playing it in form this year
                          teddy - nsw and aus
suaali - Samoans talked about for nsw and aus before form this year
manu - nz and golden boot
Tupou - Tonga and aus and new before
Keary - nsw and aus before
                          jwh - nz
                          smith - nz
                          collins - aus and Qld
                          gus - nsw and aus
                          sitili - Tonga
victor - Eng and would have played for nsw if not injured in 2020-21
