  • If/when the titans plunge, which players should we consider getting???

I'm not sure if a thread has been already started on this topic, but who would you guys want to get from there team if they do plunge?

My picks would be Luke Douglas, Ryan James, and David Mead.

Interested who everyone else would pick....

I really liked Kevin Gordon. He was a flyer.

It'll be interesting to see how he comes back from the knee injury. He has been good in the last few, but not the same as he was pre-injury. Although these injuries usually take 1 + years to recover from.

i really don't think the new independent commission will let the Titans fold..

anyway, i'd be looking at their backs. Mainly Gordon, Mead etc

It would be a bidding war. Every man and his dog will be chasing the quality players like Douglas, Bird and Srama, while the players who would be good value for money now, such as Zillman and Mead, would become overpriced.

          Correct.
          It won't happen.
Even if the League decides not to support them financially with a bail out.
My understanding is that Searle owns the Titans name, so if he wants to he can spit the dummy & take it with him.....or he may sell it to any new owner/s...and there apparently is a buyer/s ready for that.

I don't want the Titans to fold as many people would lose their jobs. I had such a good time up there and they have wonderful facilities.

I don't think there is one guy in that team that I'd sign!

One of the biggest problems they have at the moment (apart from struggling form) is that the home ground (Skilled) charges a small fortune to use it. This makes for the tickets to be way overpriced compared to other grounds. In economic hardship (which the GC is really feeling) it makes it near impossible for families to afford these prices, hence the dwindling numbers.
They need to negotiate with the QLD Govt for a deal on the stadium.

And the old problem of not actually having a licensed Leagues club to help finance the team.

There is no way the Commission will give Searle a free rescue with his dodgy property investments. They will let it fold and try to pickup the Titans branding during liquidation. If no luck they will boot the Titans out of the competition and startup a new brand with existing players.

Tomorrow's court case will prolly see things a bit clearer for the Tits.
Feel sorry for Carty (genuinely nice guy) & the players.

                        cartwright as a coach/assistant.
forwards: maybe bird if his off-field behaviour has improved; ryan james. dont need douglas - we have players already like him
backs: mead, gordon. maybe rankin although considering we have signed maloney, probably dont need him but i rate him a big prospect
