  • Jake Turpin

    Pretty good game from him.
    51 tackles.
    Good service from dummy half.
    Nearly scored a solo try.

Perhaps he's a better buy than Smith?

Going by what we have seen on the field so far, you would have to say yes.

I like Turpin. Ideal world he and cheese are both in our 17 at full strength.

At risk of being the new Big Mike - is Cheese a shit signing? I think he is. The dude was brought here to play dummy half and he was a marque signing. Instead we got a little fat guy that can't play for 80 minutes and who may or may not be a gambling addict.

        Turpin has been solid.

The coach preferred Hitch over Turpin for the 14 position out of loyalty for previous service , but now it looks like he’s woken up and is using best available talent available to him.
Hopefully going forward and with more troops coming back we will see B Smitb used in tandem with Turpin and Watson used as an extra forward and not as a hooker . The elephant in the room is Angus and whether he continues to be average or regains his powerful, tackle busting form?

Turpin has been trying very hard and done well. Never gonna be a star but puts in plenty of effort.

Turpin didn't look out of place. First receiver had the luxury of good service from dummy half.

              He's a keeper!

he's been great for us. i knew he was good with ball in hand but his defence has been a revelation. ideally i'd have him at 14 as i'm happy with the smith signing - they're chalk and cheese

I thought he had a good game. Good service from dummy half and has a neat short kicking game. Definitely worth being in the 17.

Verrills was made of chalk, that's why we got the Cheese.

Yes. I'm so glad we signed him before the season started !

Nothing flash, just a stable service. Reminded me a bit of Jake Friend (not saying he is the same calibre but his playing style on display was quite similar).

Besides the $$ he already owes players for his gambling habits?

No complaints with Turpin. But Angus, what's happening there ?

As I said when we signed him, WHY….
He is a lock and now we have two of the same player. Radley and cheese. Unfortunately they have both turned into liabilities.
