The issues for me this year are:

Smith - hasn't gelled yet / injuries and may have off field issues? Dummy half is so important nowadays in touch footy.
JWH - injuries
Lodge - cheekbone and contract issues.
Crighton - off field stuff has faarked him this year
Stilli - returning from acl
Smith, Billy - acl again.
Keary - gun shy? Too many head knocks have made him fearful of taking on the line?
Walker - playing style isn't the roosters way? On the outer with Robbo / Keary?
JS - hasn't worked at centre and has Rugba U on his brain. Off at the end of the tear anyway.
Toops - injuries.
Manu - See Keary. Afraid of head clashes with his cheekbone.
Teddy - Getting too involved with every play, but he is the captain and wants to win.
Rads - Where do we start? Needs a complete makeover.

Robbo - Seems slow to adapt to new rules and has too much loyalty to certain players?


All this doesn't allow the team to function and play as a unit unfortunately.

I wouldn't agree that Keary is "gun shy" though on taking on the line (line engagement) in comparing his stat in his 6 seasons at the Roosters - Walker's stats show a drop off in line engagement in 2023 - and the ballooning pass to run ratio of 6 - 1 run every 6 passes hence his relegation - a running half's role is to run - 3 runs every 6 passes or so - 6/3 - Pass to run ratio of 2 - 3 at the max

Keary - Line Engagement

• 2017 - 26 games - 130 - 2nd
• 2018 - 23 games - 88 - 10th
• 2019 - 22 games - 107 - 14th
• 2020 - 20 games - 132 - 2nd
• 2022 - 22 games - 143 - 7th

Noted that Players can take time to get back into the swing of things after returning from long term injuries or disruptive pre-seasons

Injuries do tests your depth

Not sure where the Walker is on the outer with Coach Robinson and Keary comes from ? - It's pretty self explanatory why he was relegated.

Coaches like structure simple as that - easier to simplify the role of players and the team as a collective with a structured game play or way of playing - see Penrith - Walker needs to add structure to his game amongst other things. - i.e Harbour Bridge passes look good on a highlight reel but not when they turn a game though

No stats on Manu for line engagement but he is running the ball more now playing at 5/8 than he ever did at centre - wouldn't say he is "gun shy" though?

Not sure why it's said that Coach Robinson hasn't adapted to new rules though - any explanation on what this means?

Showing loyalty to players is not a bad thing though as what do folk want mass changes after every loss

As far as the offense goes which is the harder part of a teams game to fix - I liken the Roosters offense to when you used to see council/telecom employees digging a hole being watched by 4 or so others employees

Certainly need to better support ball carriers - push support as well - running one out is too easy for the opposition D to defend against

It was other posts that led me to that conclusion. But alas let's move on. I have no issue with you or anyone else supporting Robinson, especially when you have rationale behind it. You are entitled to your opinion.

I wouldn't say I've thrown my toys out the cot. 100% there has been some over the top meltdowns. I have just called it like it is and that is the team has woefully underperformed with Robbo at the centre of it given he has made some baffling decisions AND some baffling comments, the pressure naturally comes on and the fans start to question it a bit. It's not all on him though. Far from it.

I do think though that if we have to keep mentioning his 3 titles and his history with us, then its a bad sign that the future is bleak. I'd like to hear about current accomplishments and see something from him that shows he can lead us for another 10 years. The last truly impressive thing he/we did was run 5th and make Finals Week 2 with a virtual NSW Cup side back in 2021. The year before that was underachievement given the squad and 2022 was really poor for 3/4's of the season.

This year has been the worst since 2016 and I cannot see us making finals, or at least doing anything if we did get there. I do acknowledge though that after 2016 that we went on to finish Top 4 for 4 seasons in a row and win 2 comps in a row. I am not a Robbo hater, he is a Roosters legend but I am not as confident in his abilities as I once was and I think I'm in the majority.

In a perfect world if you asked me would I rather Robinson lead us for another decade or we get an untried rookie coach and we were guaranteed at least 1 premiership in that time either way and the rest was up to chance, I'd go with Robbo for sure. It would be great to have a passionate and thoughtful communicator like Robinson in charge for 20+ years but I don't want him to be in charge solely because of that and solely because of his history with the club. He needs to win, end of story.

I don't think you're in the group that's thrown the toys out of the cot you seem reasonable with your crticisms and let me be clear nobody is above criticism and Trent Robinson is certainly not above it and as a defender of Robinson let me criticise him a little bit:

1. Joseph Suaalii to centre. I did not like the prospect of this move when people were discussing it late last year and it's shown to be a failure for the reasons we see every week but also one of JS best strengths is his aerial ability which is near non-existant when playing at centre he was drawing comparisons to Israel Folau in attack and very good in defending bombs and cross field kicks but we've taken that attacking threat out of the game.

2. The halfback dilemma. I don't mind sending a young kid to reserve grade to regain form or do whatever it is Robinson is asking him to do there but this has weakened two positions occupied by two key players by placing them in to roles that don't particularly suit their strengths. Luke Keary is not a halfback and we have seen that on multiple occasions over the years he's been a great 5/8 for us and the team's attack is at full force when he is playing in form. Joey Manu is a great threat in the centre position and when allowed to roam up the middle and is a very strong defender but it's wasted at 5/8.

3. I don't think hooker is Brandon Smith's best position and what his strengths are and even what he's produced as his best footy so far for us could've been achieved in the 13 jersey. Smith left Melbourne to play 9 but that position is arguably the most important in the game now and if not it's definitely the second most important and we've weakened them this year.

4. The overall squad quality. I am a fan of Trent Robinson but I don't believe he is in the group that makes players get better and he's been getting a little too cute with these signings such as Corey Allan and Jaxson Paulo who are just not up to the standard of a top 4-6 quality and it shows on a weekly basis.

5. Victor Radley. I don't know what has gotten in to him in recent years but he is losing the plot for us and it's costing us games. Robinson kept the faith and extended him but 4 years is way too long to tie down a guy who seems to get sin binned every game.

6. Robinson has dug his grave with the first 3 points and it remains to be seen if he is prepared to swallow his pride and rectify this. I would like to see at full strength: 1. Tedesco 2. Tupou 3. Billy Smith 4. Manu 5. Suaallii 6. Keary 7. Walker as the backline

Yep, I think this sums up our issues pretty well. Still a question mark over Brandon Smith for me as to whether he’s a hooker or not. You don’t win the Dally M in that position if you’re not much chop, but he needs to drop a bit of size to be more effective if that’s where we play him. I’m also worried about our lack of punch in the forwards, particularly with the Butcher boys being picked regardless of capability. Then there’s Hutch…….say no more.
